Peta Murgatroyd, her husband, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and their son Shai are closing out April with the big pregnancy gender reveal, and fans couldn’t be more thrilled!
After suffering three miscarriages between 2020 and 2021, the couple confirmed they were expecting their second child earlier this year. Such exciting revelation naturally brings in the anticipation to know the gender of the unborn child, and it was no different for Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy, who are just as eager to learn.
Therefore, on April 27th, when the two past “Dancing With the Stars” winners thought it was the right time, they took to social media to announce the gender of their second child.

The dancing pro couple, currently expecting another baby, revealed its sex via a joint post shared on Instagram. The twosome put together a mini performance to accompany the big announcement.
The video, in which the exciting couple was seen dancing together in all-black ensembles, also showed their six-year-old son stepping into the clip’s frame with a piece of paper with the word “boy” written on it.
“It’s a……[three blue heart emojis],” Murgatroyd captioned the gender reveal footage. The lengthy message continued, “The Chmerkovskiys are creating their soccer team LOL! We’re so glad Shai will get a baby brother and cannot wait to meet this little guy.”
The two-time Mirrorball Trophy winner then gave an update on their unborn child. “He is already measuring quite large 😬 and loves to kick mummy in the ribs at all night hours!”
She pointed out that the baby is also “fully healthy” and quipped that her house would be “FULL of boys,” including the family dog Hachi. Ultimately, the doting mother added, “I guess this means we have to try for baby number 3 to get that girl.”
Of course, after the announcement, the couple’s Instagram post was full of comments from supporters and fellow “DWTS” pros sharing their excitement over the news. Their in-law, Jenna Johnso, led the pack and wrote, “Rome’s bff is coming so soon!!!!”
Lindsay Arnold added, “My baby girl can’t wait for her little boyfriend + dance partner!” Nikki Garcia wrote, “Awww yay!! Love so much!!” A slew of fans also sent their best wishes.
This gender reveal comes after the duo posted a clip to get fans excited about Thursday’s reveal a day earlier. Per The Blast, they filmed themselves performing a trendy dance as they often do.
In the video, the expecting mum donned a cream-colored onesie with pockets down the front, while the father of her children wore a white shirt with black pants and a face cap. The post’s caption read:
“We are having a baby… And everyone is asking about the gender…” Also, they instructed viewers, writing, “If you think it’s a boy comment with a [blue heart emoji], and, if you think it’s a girl comment with a [pink heart emoji].”
The caption carried the same instruction, and fans did just that as soon as possible; however, the votes were split down the middle.

You can always count on the lovebirds to hit a dance move online. Before the gender reveal of their second child, The Blast reported how the Australian ballroom dancer and her partner danced together in a sweet clip. The 36-year-old pregnant mom, in the video, was wearing a cream crop top that showed her vast cleavage alongside baggy polyester pants and black sports shoes.
She parted her voluminous blonde hair in the middle, allowing the strands to free-fall on her slender shoulders. Chmerkovskiy, also in view, donned a black T-shirt with orange lettering, dark pants, and a teal-colored cap.
While performing the synchronized routine, the pair bucked their hips and turned their stomachs. The upload had a lengthy caption that read:
“Oh we’re in it! Finally!!!
