The days leading up to Darrell Sheets’ death were reportedly filled with optimism. The longtime “Storage Wars” personality had been working on his health and preparing for what friends said would be a memorable birthday celebration.

Laura Dotson told Us Weekly that Sheets had lost 40 pounds and was excited about hosting what she described as a “huge big soiree” for his birthday in May.

According to her, the reality star had been focused on getting healthier, making his sudden death feel completely unexpected. Laura admitted everything happened “just out of the blue” because Sheets had been making plans for the future until the very end.

His memories were later celebrated by his loved ones at a celebration of life ceremony in Huntington Beach, where family, friends, cast members, and members of the “Storage Wars” production team came together to celebrate him.

Laura said that participants shared stories, released 67 doves in his name, had a donut bar inspired by one of his favorite treats, and wore tank tops as homage to his late reality show persona.

One of Sheets’ final business deals has left those closest to him questioning whether something was wrong long before his death. Former “Storage Wars” co-star Dusty Riach recalled an estate collection sale that unfolded very differently from the veteran buyer’s usual negotiating style.

The Blast reported that Riach said Sheets had been asking $125,000 for the collection but unexpectedly accepted a $50,000 offer without negotiating. He described the decision as completely out of character, noting that Sheets was known for fighting over every dollar.

Looking back, Riach said the unusual exchange has stayed with him. The buyer later remarked that it almost seemed as though Sheets was “tying up his affairs,” while Riach described the lack of negotiation as “110 percent” unlike the longtime reality star.

Co-Stars Reflected On Darrell Sheets’ Legacy After His Death

Former cast members of Sheets were also emotional, with the tragedy sparking emotional reactions. Rene Nezhoda said he wanted investigators to consider that the late reality star may have been a victim of online harassment that had been going on recently, saying cyberbullying could have been a factor in his problems prior to his death.

Dave Hester also paid tribute to his longtime co-star, calling Sheets “family” after more than a decade together on “Storage Wars”. Rather than dwell on the speculation surrounding his death, Hester chose to remember the competitive moments they shared and the bond they built over the years.

Sheets’ fans also took to social media to praise him for being one of the most memorable characters in the show and express condolences to his family as they remembered his legacy.

Dan Dotson revealed that the “Storage Wars” cast wanted to help honor Sheets by contributing to his funeral expenses. The Blast noted that Dotson said the cast, production team, and even the network would be willing to “chip in,” but were waiting for the family to decide how they wanted to remember the late reality star.

Dotson admitted they had received little information about the family’s plans, leaving both friends and fans searching for answers. He said the cast were keen to honor the wishes of the family, but would look forward to being involved in any remembrance that was planned in the future, he added.

The report also noted that authorities are continuing to investigate Sheets’ death, with allegations of cyberbullying remaining part of the case after the late reality star previously claimed he had been targeted online.
