Police Conduct Welfare Check On Britney Spears Following Viral Knife Dancing Video

Pop star Britney Spears is getting a welfare check from local law enforcement officials following her knife dancing video.

Although she later told her followers to "lighten up" and claimed that she was only trying to copy Shakira's 2023 MTV Video Music Awards knife dance, others aren't too sure, especially when she followed up her dancing video with another video that featured her performing with a bandage around her arm, a cut on her leg, and a bruise on her back.

On Monday night, the "Mind Your Business" singer took to Instagram to share a video that featured her dancing barefoot in her living room, clanging the knives together as she danced.

“I started playing in the kitchen with knives today ??‍♀️??‍♀️??‍♀️ !!! Don’t worry they are NOT real knives !!! Halloween is soon ??? !!!” Britney wrote in the caption, but fans weren’t so sure, given how real the knives sounded.

The following day, the "Oops!...I Did It Again" singer posted another video that featured her dancing in the same outfit. She is not holding the knives, but she is sporting a white bandage around her arm.

She also has a cut on her lower back close to her hip that can be seen as she spins around. Britney made no mention of the new injuries in her caption. It is not clear how she sustained the new cuts and bruises, but fans speculated that the knives were real and caused the wounds.

On Thursday, sources told TMZ that deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff's Department paid a visit to Britney’s Thousand Oaks estate in Los Angeles on Wednesday night out of an "abundance of caution" for the pop star.

Fortunately, the "Toxic" singer was still at home and deputies were able to speak to her. It is unclear what was said, but they were able to determine that Britney was okay and left the premises.

Insiders say that several people called in to express their concerns, including one who did a welfare check on her in the past and was "alarmed" after seeing the videos.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that police have had to do a welfare check on the 41-year-old pop star. In January 2023, law enforcement officials showed up at her house around midnight after fans were concerned to see her deactivate her Instagram account.

Britney later took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to let her fans know that all was well. She later returned to Instagram that week to resume sharing her dancing videos with her 41 million followers.

Even if the knives did not cause the bruises, fans still have plenty of reason to be concerned. Britney recently told her followers in a since-deleted caption that she has felt "weaker" recently after losing "a lot" of weight.

In the caption of another dancing video uploaded later on Tuesday night, Britney told her followers that she was feeling "weaker" amid recent weight loss.

“So yesterday I brought this outfit back … kinda like a costume I guess … I like it !!!! I never thought white would read well but it does … I’m not fishing for compliments !!! I realize I’ve been in my living room dancing … lights give me a horrible migraine after 20 years ? … I like to control the lights !!! I mean it is my f—ing head … am I suppose to TRUST ever again ???" she began. "Too many smiles always saying ‘Sorry we didn’t know!’ but oh well ??‍♀️??!!!"

"I realize I’ve lost a lot of weight and my eyes aren’t as wide open !!! I feel weaker when I lose weight," she continued. "I think I figured it out … lay around … be lazy … sleep all day … and you get really skinny … like some people I know !!! I can be like my mom now !!! I also realize that when you’ve been hurt by people you respect, the body reacts differently. Anxiety and nervousness which is a shame because those that did it to me are the most self centered ?!!!"

"They love to listen to themselves talk for hours !!! Vanity haven superficial pieces of ?. I have people who I look up to and I’m thankful for their friendship," she went on. "I have incredible gifted friends beside me every f-----in’ day but I‘d be lying if I didn’t say to any b—- disrespecting me at any parties … I don’t forget !!!! Why ???? Cause I know my worth and learning to dance with fake knives at parties is a motherf—ing understatement !!! Ps don’t worry at all if I show up at any parties, we will have a very NICE TIME ???? !!!"

"This was shot yesterday ? !!!" she added, referring to her dancing video. "Pssss here’s to a day with my dogs and doing absolutely nothing !!! Apologize for my ignorance … all I’ve ever known is to work … who would have thunk it ??? !!!???”

She later deleted everything she had previously written and changed the caption to read, "Lighten up about the knives I'm copying Shakira ? !!!"
