Where Does Britney Spears Stand With Mom Lynne Spears and Sister Jamie Lynn Spears?

Conflicting reports have emerged about where Britney Spears stands with her estranged mother, Lynne Spears, and her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, amid her high-profile divorce from actor Sam Asghari.
The 41-year-old pop star was subjected to a controversial conservatorship that lasted from February 2008 to November 2021. Throughout that time, she has had a difficult relationship with her family; however, it looked like Britney was starting to get close to her family again. In May, her mother took a trip from Louisana to Los Angeles to visit her daughter and Britney even claimed that she visited her sister on the "Zoey 102" set this summer.
Unfortunately, conflicting reports have emerged about Britney's status with her family amid news that her husband had filed for divorce on August 16, listing their date of separation as July 28, 2023. Although some reports have said that Britney is "isolated" and "alone" amid the divorce, others have claimed that Britney's family has been supporting her every step of the way.
Conflicting Reports Have Emerged About Britney Spears' Relationship With Mother Lynne Spears and Sister Jamie Lynn Spears Amid Her Divorce From Sam Asghari
On Thursday morning, a source told Page Six that the pop star is still not “on good terms with her family” despite meeting up with them earlier this summer. “Her meeting with her mom, went OK, but there’s still a lot of hurt there, so they haven’t quite reconciled,” the source said. “Britney is still very angry with Jamie Lynn, too.”
The insider called the "Hold Me Closer" singer “isolated, especially now without Sam,” but went on to say that the pop star is “hanging in there, all things considered.” Another insider claimed that Britney was actually lying about visiting her sister on the set of “Zoey 102,” although it is unclear why Britney would make the claim if it wasn't true.
Later on Thursday afternoon, a source told TMZ that the pop star was still "isolated" from her family and not on speaking terms with them. One source told the outlet: "She has one confidant, [her manager] Cade [Hudson]. Then there's her security team, and after that, her support system falls off a cliff."
On Friday, a source did list her manager Cade Hudson as one of her confidants in a statement to the Daily Mail, but also said that her family was rallying around her as well.
“She is not alone at all. Britney has her sister Jamie Lynn who is in and out of LA and she also has her mom Lynne, who is expected to arrive this weekend, if she has not flown in already,” the insider divulged. “She has a support system including her agent and longtime friend [and manager] Cade [Hudson], her friends which include several of her backup dancers and her girlfriends.”
In addition to her friends and family, the source went on to say that Britney also “has a team of assistants and her chef who are always around the houses. She also has other workers who are constantly there.” It looks like many of her famous friends are coming out to support the pop star.
“This past week, Britney has been getting calls and texts from everyone she knows, including people she hasn't spoken to in years,” the source added. “She will get through this. She has gotten through worse and no one will allow anything to happen to her.”
This isn't the only time that the outlet claimed that Britney's family was trying to support her amid the divorce. On Thursday afternoon, sources told the Daily Mail that Lynne is “furious” with the actor for “abandoning” her daughter and is now “begging” Britney to leave her Thousand Oaks estate in Los Angeles and come stay with her in Louisiana to “heal and regroup.”
"Lynne is furious at [Sam] for abandoning Britney,” an insider shared. “He took a vow to stand by her side through sickness and health – and he knew she was not well [when they married].” They continued, “Lynne is begging [Britney] to leave LA and live with her,” adding, “LA is toxic and the only thing keeping her there was [Sam]. Lynne believes she can heal and regroup in Louisiana, then return to LA when she is ready.”
The source noted that the family thought that he was a "kind guy" when the former couple met on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016. “The sensible people in her life will be sad that the marriage is over. The feeling was that he thought he could save her, but maybe there is no saving Britney,” the source said, while a second insider alleged that Sam “checked out of the marriage” when he realized Britney “could not be saved.”
The insider alleged that the 29-year-old actor “sat at home and played video games all day” before deciding to call it quits on their marriage after fourteen months. “Instead of working with her family to get her help, [they feel that] he abandoned her as soon as things got tough,” the source claimed.
Is Britney's Upcoming Memoir Causing More Drama Within The Family?
That being said, there have claims that Britney has been on the outs with her mother and sister even before the divorce was announced amid reports that Britney Spears won't tell her family what she wrote about them in her highly anticipated memoir “The Woman In Me,” which is scheduled for release this October.
Sources told The Sun that the “Oops!...I Did It Again” singer “has not told her mom, Lynne, the full extent of what is written about their family and past dramas in her upcoming memoir. Lynne is unaware of the entirety of the subject matters covered by her daughter, despite the couple talking again.”
“Britney has kept her cards close to her chest about what is in the memoir,” the insider alleged. “She has been chomping at the bit to present her experiences of becoming famous and what role her parents played – and Lynne is being kept in the dark about what Britney will say about their relationship.” Sources say that her publicist at Simon and Schuster have also warned the pop star to “keep her talk about her experiences in the book just to those closest in her life.”
The source went on to say, “Britney doesn’t want to sugarcoat her tough family dynamics. For almost two decades Britney feels that her parents have run the narrative about her life, and now it’s her turn to put her version out to the world.”
“Britney made it clear to her mother that she wants to have her version of her life put out publicly after so long seeing others talking about her,” they added. “However just where it leaves the mother and daughter relationship after the book release is still to be determined.”
Britney Spears' memoir "The Woman In Me" will hit bookshelves on October 24, 2023.
