The show, which ran from 1984 to 1992, starred Tony Danza as former baseball player Tony Micelli, who takes a job as a live-in housekeeper for a divorced advertising executive, Angela Bower (Judith Light) and her son, Jonathan (Danny Pintauro). Along with Alyssa Milano as Tony's daughter, Samantha, and Katherine Helmond as Angela's mother, Mona, the show tackled themes of family, friendship, and relationships in a relatable and often comedic way.

The love of the show has had fans of the series clamoring for a reunion for years, and it seems that their wishes could soon be granted. The reboot, which is currently in development at Amazon Freevee, will reportedly focus on the father-daughter dynamic of Tony and Samantha who would be living in the same home as the original series.

Alyssa Milano, recently on an episode of 'The View', shared that the 'Who’s the Boss?' reboot is closer than ever to becoming a reality confirming that a script has been written for the ’80s fan favorite. "We actually submitted a script last week to Freevee.", she explained, "Which is the network that picked it up, and we're waiting to hear if it is greenlit to go to series. So, we are very close."

Milano also spoke with ET’s Rachel Smith about the potential reboot saying, "It would be Tony coming to take care of my children because I get a job that makes me travel a lot, so that's the whole dynamic. But also, the generational difference between raising a child now versus then, which is always the conflict that I have with my parents in real life about gentle parenting. So I'm really looking forward to that aspect of it."

Tony Danza Adds Fuel To The Fire Of A Future 'Who's The Boss?' Reboot

Tony Danza added fuel to the reboot fire with Fox 5 New York recently and was asked about the reboot:

"I don’t think you should do every show in a reboot, you know. The only reason, by the way, you know why they do reboots right? You know that the only reason why they do this is that they can’t promote them, they can’t promote a new show, how do you launch a new show with all this fragmentation, so you have to have something that people recognize, so, I’m… I’m… listen I am still waiting to see what happens with the sequel to ‘Who’s The Boss? It’s more, it’s not a reboot.”

But when it comes to the show we all loved, we need to the whole band back together. Alyssa and Tony are amazing, but to make it even greater, Judith Light needs to be a part of it. But will she?

Judith Light Gives Latest Update On Her Role In 'Who's The Boss?' Reboot

While Judith Light was at the premiere of Peacock's Poker Face on January 17th, the amazing actress who played the irrepressible Angela Bower was asked for an update on the potential involvement of the reunion show and she told Variety, “I don't know all of what they doing. I know they are in the process of doing something, but I don't really know a lot. And so I don't know how to answer that.”

So it is still unfortunately unknown when it comes to Light's involvement but hopefully, whatever plans there are for the reboot it involves Judith’s character. In the original series the story of Tony being the housekeeper and Angela as the career-driven yuppie businesswoman made the show such a hit. Granted Danza and Milano are the only original stars currently attached to the series they must want Judith to be a part to continue the magic.

Sadly no matter what happens it won’t be a full reunion. Katherine Helmond, who costarred as Angela’s sassy mother Mona, passed away in 2019. So now we wait with fingers crossed it goes through and we get to enjoy this family yet again with some fun new stories.
