“Hate My Heart” is a breakup anthem that gets fans rocking out.
“I hate my heart right now/ Underneath the covers in the dark right now/ Wishin’ I was sitting in a bar right now/ Two drinks in/ Makin’ me a last call friend/ I want my feel good back/ Instead of feeling bad that I can’t get past/ The fact that I can’t love nobody else/ I would if I could, but I don’t know how/ I hate my heart right now,” she sings in the chorus.
Underwood wrote the song alongside Hillary Lindsey, David Garcia, and HARDY.
Carrie Underwood Speaks About “Hate My Heart” and Current Tour
When speaking out about the new hit single, the 39-year-old country music singer said:
“‘Hate My Heart’ was definitely part of my desire to have fun on this album. I wanted songs that would be exciting to perform live and would fill up an arena, and that’s exactly what we’re about to do with The Denim & Rhinestones Tour. This one is definitely going to get everyone up on their feet and having a good time. It was great writing ‘Hate My Heart’ with Hillary Lindsey and David Garcia, who I love collaborating with, and also getting to work with Hardy, who brought a cool vibe and an energy to the track.”
Underwood is currently on tour with Jimmie Allen for her Denim & Rhinestones tour. When speaking on why she chose Allen to tour with her, she told Lon Helton, “I felt like he made sense. He embodies denim & rhinestones almost as much as I did.”
“At least we know we will have a lot of bling and plenty of rhinestones for wardrobe,” she continued. “We may even get together on stage. It’s always a shame, if I was to have somebody like him out, it would be a shame not to get to sing with him while we’re on stage.”
Underwood has previously announced that for each ticket sold, the 38-year-old will donate $1 to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which has been supporting America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes since September 11.
