From Viral Video To 'SNL' Skit: Corn Kid's Ride To Fame Is Far From Over

One viral video over the summer has taken 7-year-old Tariq, also known to the Internet as Corn Kid, to places he probably never imagined. What started out as a simple discussion on camera about corn and why it's his favorite food, has led him to a "Saturday Night Live" skit on the season premiere of season 48. While Tariq wasn't actually on "SNL," newcomer to the show, Devon Walker played the role of Corn Kid in a skit. Tariq's official TikTok page posted the clip and captioned it, "GASPPPP I’m on SNL ?."

Tariq's followers were excited to see him being portrayed on the hit comedy show. One fan commented, "I love this ??? it made me laugh I can’t stop laughing ???? I love you kornboy have a corntastic day." Another wrote, " This is corntastic. You have arrived little man ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️." Viewers were supportive and excited for the little boy's corn adventure that just keeps going and going.

"Recess Therapy" was so excited to see where their favorite corn-loving kid popped up that they posted an Instagram Story announcing the fun moment. Julian Shapiro-Barnum, the creator and host of "Recess Therapy" also took to Instagram to announce the skit and congratulate Walker for his interpretation of Tariq.

Tariq's rise to Internet fame all started when he was asked about his favorite vegetable on an episode of "Recess Therapy." His enthusiastic interview quickly went viral which led him to a second interview, a song, Cameo account, and many "corntastic" adventures for the New York City second grader. In addition to being recognized by "SNL," "The Drew Barrymore Show" also gave Tariq a moment in the spotlight. Barrymore not only had Tariq on the show trying corn-flavored things, she also gifted him with a $5,000 shopping spree at famed New York City toy store, F.A.O. Schwarz.

Tariq also had a memorable time visiting the Corn Palace and while there, being named the "Corn-Bassador" of South Dakota. The "corn-awesome" fun didn't end there for Tariq. He also got the chance to visit the Empire State Building with "Recess Therapy," as well as walk the red carpet at the "Pinocchio" premiere. And let's not forget about his day at American Dream in New Jersey where he got to meet and film a video with MrBeast at MrBeast Burger's grand opening, as well as spend the day riding the rides and meeting another one of his favorite yellow things - Spongebob Squarepants.
