After three failed marriages, Halle Berry has found the love of her life, Van Hunt, but she believes that a particular famous friend could have introduced them way back.
During a recent interview, the Academy Award winner jokingly pointed a finger at Ellen DeGeneres for not saving her the misery of finding love in the wrong places.
The "Moonfall" actress and the show host also walked down memory lane with the story of how she and her lover almost crossed paths.
Halle Berry Almost Met Her Boyfriend On Ellen DeGeneres' Show
DeGeneres may have thought she would be asking all the questions on the Thursday, February 3, episode of her eponymous talk show, but her guest put her in the hot seat.
Two minutes into the hilarious preview clip of the interview, Berry joked about how she would not have hunted down love if the show's host had let her and her boyfriend meet.
The "John Wick" actress has been in a blissful romance with Hunt since 2020, but they almost met more than a decade ago in 2004!
DeGeneres confirmed that the loverboy is a musician who performed on the debut season of her talk show, preceding his girlfriend's appearance on another episode.
Berry noted that their star-crossed encounter came up a few days ago when she told the "Out of The Sky" singer she was coming on DeGeneres' show. She recalled:
"I said, 'You know, I was on her first season,' and he goes, 'So was I,' and I said, 'You mean you could've found me 20 years and saved me all this misery I've been through?' "
Berry playfully asked, "How come you didn't arrange that, Ellen?" The host remembered they were meant to be on the same show, but she came on about two months later.
From 1993 to 1997, the "Kidnap" lead was married to David Justice. From 2001–2005, she was hitched to Eric Benét, and From 2013-2016 she was the wife of Olivier Martinez, with whom she shares 8-year-old Maceo.
Berry also co-parents 13-year-old Nahla with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry. Despite the humor, the "Kidnap" lead painfully posited that DeGeneres could have saved her three marriages.
The "Mr. Wrong" actress rebutted, "Yeah, but then you wouldn't have the little f****** kid." In a fit of laughter, her guest replied:
"No, I'd have two other f****** kids that I wouldn't have to share two f****** daddies with, and I'd be f****** happier! So it's your fault. It's your f****** fault, Ellen."
The "My Point… And I Do Have One" author ended the banter by apologizing to the 55-year-old, "I am f****** sorry."
In May 2021, The Blast disclosed that Berry went public with her relationship by posting a picture of herself wearing a T-Shirt with Hunt's name on it with the caption, “now ya know… ♥️🦶🏽.”
An insider shared that they had been dating for several months before the "Bruised" actress broke the news, and the "Seconds of Pleasure" singer had also met her children.
Berry gushed about her love for Hunt in the February/March 2022 AARP/Magazine cover story and revealed that her son Maceo also gave them his blessings.
The "Catwoman" actress believes she has finally found her person and talked about how the pandemic made them connect deeply, saying:
"We were forced to let only our brains connect and discover if we had a connection before our bodies decided to get involved. I’d never done it this way. I fell in love with his mind, his conversation.”
The "Moonfall" Actress Gushes Over Boyfriend In Acceptance Speech
Berry made an unexpected, heartfelt declaration of love and gratitude to Hunt while receiving an honorary award at the 4th Annual Celebration of Black Cinema & Television event.
The Blast revealed that while accepting the Career Achievement Award last December, the critically-acclaimed actress expressed her profound affection for her lover.
The "Dark Tide" admitted that she has not been fortunate with love but meeting the "Dust" musician changed all that for her. She proudly declared:
“Because you fail so many times, you know what wrong looks like. Because I failed so many times, I now know what [love] really looks like. And so my partner is here tonight, Van, and you have supported me.”
