Cardi B is getting ready to tear down the roof at the upcoming American Music Awards!

The renowned rapper was just announced as the host for the 2021 AMAs, and she is more than thrilled about it. In a press release to ABC News confirming the news, Cardi detailed her hopes for the award ceremony. She said:

When I received the invite to host the AMAs, I was so excited. I'm ready to bring my personality to the AMAs stage! Thank you to [executive producer] Jesse Collins, ABC and MRC for making this happen.

This is a milestone for the "Bodak Yellow" crooner, who is a first-time host but has bagged five American Music Awards in the past. In addition, she broke the record as the first female rapper to take home the award for Best Hip-Hop song twice.

Cardi has since taken to social media to celebrate the good news sharing a video mash-up of all her iconic moments at the AMAs in the past years.

All About The AMAs

The American Music Awards is set to hold on Sunday, November 21, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Last week, the complete list of nominees was released, and rising star Olivia Rodrigo took the lead.

As The Blast previously covered, Rodrigo has the most nominations with seven categories which include the prestigious Artist of the Year and New Artist of the Year.

The Weeknd followed closely behind her with six categories while Doja Cat, Bad Bunny, and Giveon come in third place with five nominations each.

The Artist of the Year award seems to be the category with the most intense competition as Rodrigo will face the likes of The Weeknd, Drake, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and BTS. It's also particularly tricky as Rodrigo, Swift, and Drake all had No. 1 albums in 2021.

However, the power to decide who wins lies solely in fans' hands as the AMAs are determined by fan voting. Voting is set to end on November 16.

Cardi B's Halloween Costume

Cardi's announcement as the host of the AMAs comes a few days after she turned up the heat for Halloween. The "Hustlers" star dressed as Morticia Addams from the beloved "Addams Family."

However, she made sure to put her spin on it. The mother-of-two flaunted her cleavage in a corseted Morticia-inspired outfit that hugged her hourglass figure. The ensemble was completely see-through, leaving little to the imagination.

She donned bright red lipstick and dark eye makeup as she struck different poses in between two hearses. Cardi's outfit was no doubt loved by fans as it received over 4 million likes on Instagram.
