In an emotional Instagram tribute shared Sunday, the widow reflected on the life the conservative commentator built with their family and the legacy he left behind for their two young children. “Thank you for our two precious babies that carry pieces of you with them,” Erika wrote. “You will forever be an extraordinary father. Forever.”

Alongside a behind-the-scenes video of Charlie’s appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmFest 2024 event, Erika shared a heartfelt message about navigating life without her husband while raising their children. “It’s Father’s Day, I still wrote you your letter (I will the rest of my life),” she wrote. “GG has it waiting for you by your coffee mug. I’ll save them all for our son when he gets older. They miss you. I miss you.”

The tribute went on to thank Charlie for the life they built together and the example he set as a father. “Thank you for loving us so well. Thank you for making me a wife and a mother. Thank you for our two precious babies that carry pieces of you with them,” she added. “Thank you for all the times you’ve prayed over our family. Thank you for living your life in such a way to be an incredible example to other Fathers. Thank you for all the sacrifices you’ve made.”

Charlie’s death sent shockwaves through the political world after the Turning Point USA founder was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.

The conservative activist, author, and media personality was participating in a campus event when he was struck by gunfire. He was rushed for medical treatment but later died from his injuries. He was 31 years old.

In the days that followed, law enforcement launched a massive investigation into the shooting. Authorities later announced that a 22-year-old Utah man had surrendered to police and was subsequently charged with aggravated murder and several additional offenses.

According to investigators, the suspect allegedly targeted Kirk because of his political beliefs. Prosecutors have indicated they intend to seek the death penalty if a conviction is secured. The accused has not entered a plea, and the case remains ongoing.

Kirk’s death prompted tributes from political leaders, conservative commentators, and supporters across the country, while his wife, Erika, and the couple’s two young children were left to navigate life without him.

Kirk Has Opened Up About Grieving In The Public Eye

After Charlie’s death, Erika stepped into a more public role, eventually taking over as CEO of Turning Point USA. Along the way, she has also faced criticism from some observers who questioned how she chose to grieve publicly.

In October, Erika addressed those comments directly, explaining that grief rarely follows a predictable path. “… there is no linear blueprint for grief. One day you’re collapsed on the floor crying out the name Jesus in between labored breaths,” she wrote at the time.

“The next you’re playing with your children in the living room surrounded by family photos, and feeling a rush of something you can only attempt to define as divinely planted and bittersweet joy as a smile breaks through your face,” she added.

Erika later reflected on how losing her husband changed her understanding of love and loss. “They say time heals. But love doesn’t ask to be healed. Love asks to be remembered,” Erika wrote. “It’s humbling to realize that this magnitude of suffering didn’t steal my love for my husband. It amplified it. It crystallized it.”
