Erika Kirk has paid tribute to her late husband, Charlie Kirk, in a deeply emotional post marking what would have been their fifth wedding anniversary.

Despite the sweet video montage featuring family memories and voice recordings reflecting on their life, the mother of two still managed to be flooded with comments from critics picking apart her tribute.

The tribute comes nearly a year after Charlie Kirk was killed at Utah Valley University. As the legal case continues, a judge has also ruled on media access and delayed the suspect’s preliminary hearing.

Erika is honoring the memory of her late husband, Charlie Kirk, with an emotional tribute marking what would have been their fifth wedding anniversary.

On Friday, the TPUSA CEO shared a heartfelt video montage on social media featuring family photos, candid moments, and memories from their life together.

The clip was paired with touching audio narration reflecting on their relationship and the family they created.

The video begins with a woman, presumed to be Erika, saying she wants to share the story of “Mommy and Daddy,” before a child’s voice takes over, describing how “Mama and Dada” fell in love and dreamed of building a family. In one especially emotional moment, the child can be heard saying, “I love you so much, Daddy. I miss you, Dada.”

The montage closes with what appears to be old recordings of Erika and Charlie exchanging “I love you” messages.

Alongside the video, Erika reflected on the pain of knowing their children may never get to see their parents grow old together.

“Even though our kids won’t see our love ‘grow old together’ from an earthly stand point; they’ll see it from a Heavenly one,” she stated. “And I’ll tell them of our love story any moment I can. Happy Anniversary to the love of my life.”

The Widow Was Flooded With A Mix Of Kind And Critical Comments

On X, Erika’s post led to a flood of reactions from individuals showing her support, and some were critical of the widow.

Popular MAGA influencer, Laura Loomer, wrote, “Happy Anniversary, Erika! Stay strong! We won’t let the bullies win! We are standing with you.”

Another stated, “Happy Anniversary, Mrs. Kirk. Your husband is so proud of your strength and commitment for carrying on his passion.”

“You could tell by the way you looked at him that you cherished him. So frkn sad. Prayers, honey,” a third person commented.

However, one critic noted, “I still don’t understand why everything Erika posts and says is so inorganic. This would’ve gone a lot better without that dramatic audio production. It’s so easy to post an organic memory and message. SO EASY I could fake one 10x better without ever meeting Charlie.”

Another said, “I was so close to liking and sharing this until i saw who posted it. Then I got real angry as this is the first human thing you’ve posted regarding your late husband. It’s like you watched Candice’s post the day after he died and tried to replicate it from a wife’s perspective.”

The anniversary tribute comes nearly a year after Charlie was killed while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

The Turning Point USA founder was 31 years old and is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two young children.

At the time of his death, Turning Point USA released an emotional statement mourning the loss of its founder, saying Charlie had “gone to his eternal reward with Jesus Christ in heaven.”

Authorities later arrested a 23-year-old suspect in connection with the shooting. The man was charged with aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and felony firearm discharge. Court records show he has not yet entered a plea.

Following Charlie’s death, Erika stepped into a leadership role within Turning Point USA, becoming the organization’s CEO and chairperson as she works to continue the mission her husband built.

She has also been open about the realities of grief and adjusting to life without him. In an emotional Instagram post shared in October 2025, Erika reflected on the unpredictable nature of mourning, describing moments of overwhelming sorrow alongside unexpected flashes of joy shared with her children.

Judge Allows Cameras In Tyler Robinson Trial After Rejecting Defense Request To Block Coverage

Meanwhile, cameras will be permitted inside the courtroom during the trial of Robinson, the Utah man accused of fatally shooting Charlie, after a judge ruled in favor of media access on Friday.

Robinson, 23, had asked the court to block cameras from the proceedings, arguing that continued public exposure and media coverage could unfairly influence future jurors. His attorneys claimed some reporting on the case had been politically charged and portrayed him negatively before trial.

According to the New York Post, Judge Graf rejected the request, stating that while some coverage may be controversial, media access also serves an important public purpose by informing people about the legal process and helping counter misinformation surrounding the high-profile case.

Under the ruling, news organizations seeking to bring cameras into the courtroom must file requests at least 14 days in advance, giving the defense an opportunity to object to specific coverage concerns.

Judge Delays Charlie Kirk’s Suspected Shooter’s Hearing Over Defense Concerns About Evidence Access

Judge Graf said the decision to delay Robinson’s preliminary hearing was based largely on concerns raised by Robinson’s defense team, who argued they had not yet received enough evidence to properly prepare their case.

The hearing had originally been scheduled to begin on May 18, but all four of Robinson’s attorneys told the court in April that they did not feel ready to provide effective legal representation based on the discovery materials available to them at the time.

In his ruling, Graf emphasized that a “defendant’s constitutional right to effective assistance of counsel is no less important at the preliminary hearing than it is at any other stage.”

The judge noted that the original timeline, set last December, was intended mainly as a scheduling target for both sides and the court. He added that the defense’s request for a delay was neither surprising nor unreasonable given the massive amount of evidence involved in the case.

Among the materials the defense said they still needed to fully review were DNA analysis reports tied to key evidence, including the rifle prosecutors allege Robinson used in the fatal shooting of Charlie. Defense attorney Kathryn Nester later confirmed that the legal team had since received part of the DNA evidence they requested.
