Kim Kardashian‘s shapewear brand, SKIMS, was not the perfect disguise for an attempted drug transport.

The incident occurred in Essex last September when a lorry driver thought he had clearly hidden a massive load of cocaine in a vehicle transporting SKIMS’ clothing.

Kim Kardashian co-founded the shapewear company in 2019, and it has been dragged into multiple legal disputes.

The drama occurred on September 5, 2025, when a Polish national named Jakub Jan Konkel attempted to smuggle drugs while carrying SKIMS clothing. He was stopped by Border Force officers at the Port of Harwich in Essex after arriving with his lorry on a ferry from the Hook of Holland, The Netherlands.

The vehicle carried 28 pallets of SKIMS clothing, which were x-rayed and showed no problems. However, the truck itself was the issue as further inspection revealed that it had been specially revamped to hide a compartment in the skin of the rear trailer doors.

Inside the hidden compartment were 90 packages. Each of these bags, per the National Crime Agency (NCA), contained 1kg of cocaine with a street value of around £7.2 million (about $9.4 million). Konkel’s tachograph revealed he made a 16-minute stop at a location suspected to be where the drugs were loaded onto the vehicle.

The Perpetrator Was Sentenced To Over A Decade In Prison

According to the report, Konkel initially denied having any knowledge of the drugs in his vehicle. However, he eventually confessed and pleaded guilty to drug smuggling. The driver explained that he had agreed to smuggle the drugs for £4,500 (about $5,243).

Months after his arrest, Konkel was sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday, May 18, to 13 years and six months in prison. The National Crime Agency investigation also confirmed that Kim’s SKIMS goods were completely legitimate and unrelated to the smuggled goods.

The resolution of the case came weeks after Kim was dragged into another legal drama over her SKIMS brand. The Blast reported earlier this month that she was getting dragged to court over her “Fits Everybody” collection by an apparel brand with a similar name.

The SKIMS’ “Fits Everybody” drama began when the brand “Fits Everybody To A T” accused Kim of copyright infringement. The brand’s owner, Denise Cesare, argued that she began her business over a decade before Kim launched her shapewear brand and had trademarked the name.

Cesare claimed Kim was aware she owned the trademark yet still chose to launch her “Fits Everybody” collection. She described the move as Kim abusing her celebrity status and fortune to oppress a smaller brand, stressing that she had lost business.

According to Cesare, the similarities in their business names made consumers think her business was related to Kim. Additionally, Kim’s popularity overshadowed her brand, allegedly pushing her business down the search engine rankings and making it invisible.

The Trademark Office Allegedly Warned The Entertainer About Infringement

The allegations against Kim continued, with officials at the trademark office reportedly warning her about the similarities between her collection’s name and Cesare’s brand. She was allegedly told she could not trademark “Fits Everybody” to avoid confusing customers.

Some of the products from Kim and Cesare’s brand were also deemed legally identical. On that note, Cesare remained adamant that Kim had intentionally moved forward with her collection despite understanding the harm it would cause Cesare’s brand.

Cesare demanded compensation for her losses and a court order to stop Kim from continuing to use “Fits Everybody.” She also implored the court to make Kim hand over the profits she earned from using a similar brand name, arguing that Kim’s actions had deprived her of control over her own brand.

The drama linked to Kim’s shapewear brand continues, with TMZ reporting days earlier that a man named David Knight had filed a lawsuit against the brand. He claimed that he had never received his full wage while working for SKIMS from October 2025 to December 2025.

According to Knight, he and other workers did not receive overtime pay and weren’t given legally required meal breaks or rest periods. He also accused SKIMS of failing to give workers the minimum wage for all hours worked, nor did the brand pay wages after termination or resignation.

A rep for SKIMS refuted the allegations, calling the lawsuit “the same recycled template plaintiffs’ firms send to employers across California, fishing for a quick settlement.” The rep declared that the brand was innocent of all wrongdoing and would prove it in court. Kim was not named as a defendant in the case.
