Steve Burton has become the second star from the “General Hospital” series to be embroiled in a child custody battle.

The actor, who portrayed Jason Morgan on the daytime television soap opera, recently butted heads with his ex-wife, Sheree Burton. He accused her of interfering with his custodial time with their 11-year-old daughter.

Steve Burton’s custody drama comes days after another “General Hospital” alum, actress Kirsten Storms, was dragged to court by her ex-husband, Brandon Barash, over their daughter’s well-being.

According to court documents, Steve implored a judge to intervene in his custody issues with his ex-wife. He accused Sheree of refusing to comply with their custody agreement, which stated that they share joint legal and physical custody of their daughter, Brooklyn.

However, Steve alleged that Sheree did not honor their agreement by refusing to hand over their daughter in July. He claimed his ex-wife has been far from cooperative, accusing her of engaging “in a pattern of unilateral decision making.”

The legal documents obtained by TMZ added that Sheree had allegedly deliberately obstructed the actor’s rights as a parent. Her actions “effectively stripped Steve of his court-ordered parenting time.” As for the most recent incident, Sheree was accused of manipulation.

Steve explained that he was meant to have their daughter in July, per their custody arrangement. However, Sheree had purposely enrolled their daughter in a six-week program in California and refused to allow Steve to exercise his vacation time with their child.

The TV personality lamented his situation, stressing that Sheree’s actions had dragged their daughter into a conflict for no reason. Additionally, he claimed he “felt manipulated by her actions,” and implored the court to intervene.

Steve asked for an order to make Sheree uphold the terms of their custody agreement and a sanction of $5,000 for her behavior. Besides their youngest daughter, Brooklyn, the former couple is parents to adult children Makena and Jack.

Inside The Former Couple’s Relationship

Steve and Sheree first met on the set of “General Hospital” and tied the knot in January 1999. Their first child, daughter Makena, was born in September 2003, followed by their son Jack in March 2006.

Their third child, daughter Brooklyn, was born in July 2020. A year later, the then-couple celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary, with Sheree raving about their decades-long romance in a since-deleted post.

That same year, trouble began brewing in their marriage, with PEOPLE reporting that an insider claimed Sheree was “unhappy” with Steve’s exit from the “GH” series. He lost his longtime role after he was fired for failing to adhere to the production’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Fans remained oblivious to the cracks in Steve and Sheree’s marriage until May 2022, when the latter showed off a baby bump. The post immediately had many believing she was expecting a fourth child with Steve, but he responded with a separation announcement.

Steve shared in an Instagram Story post that the child Sheree was expecting was not his. He explained that they separated, but were focused on co-parenting their three children. He eventually found love again and tied the knot to chef and content creator Michelle Lundstrom.

The lovebirds said their vows in an intimate Orthodox church ceremony on May 17, 2025. The church gathering reportedly only featured their immediate family, while their Montage Laguna Beach reception received 45 guests from their inner circle.

Days before Steve’s custody issues, The Blast reported in late April that Kristen Storms from “GH” was called out by her ex-husband in an emergency restraining order filing. The request, which a judge approved, detailed the actress’s concerning behavior.

Storms’ ex-husband, Brandon Barash, explained that he was concerned about her ability to care for their minor child adequately. He cited housing concerns, revealing Storms’ landlord had sued her for eviction, and she never maintained a permanent residence.

Additionally, Barash brought up Storms’ mental health, explaining that she once contacted him about “experiencing delusions and hallucinations.” He stated that his wife took Storms to the hospital, where she was placed on psychiatric hold.
