Singer Cher bagged a loss in court, walking away with the results she did not hope for!
The singer had filed that her son, Elijah Blue Allman, who has made headlines over time for his troubled mental health, be placed under temporary conservatorship. She previously disclosed that his mental health has taken a nosedive and continues to go downhill, igniting her fear and concern about other aspects of his life.
Singer Cher’s troubled son does not have a clean slate with the law, as he has been arrested twice in the first quarter of this year. His first arrest stemmed from his alleged involvement in a prep school incident.
Singer Cher Met With Disappointment In Conservatorship Quest

The iconic vocalist walked out of court with a loss as her request to have her second son placed under conservatorship was denied. The Los Angeles judge who did not rule in her favor stated that she did not see “sufficient urgency” in Cher’s request. Her claim that Allman is “gravely disabled” and suffering from mental health and substance abuse struggles did not hold up before the judge.
Despite the denied request, there seems to be a window of hope as the case was dismissed without prejudice. This means that she can file to appoint a conservator of Allman’s estate again if she wants. The singer’s son was not physically present at the hearing, which took place on Friday, April 24, but joined in via a video call from a psychiatric hospital where he is currently in custody “in an attempt to restore him to competency.”
PEOPLE report that Allman’s residence at the psychiatric facility occurred amid the multiple criminal charges he was slapped with for different cases in New Hampshire. “A lot of people don’t show up to court and get a default judgment and don’t need a conservatorship. I am going to deny the temporary conservatorship without prejudice,” the judge stated as she dismissed Cher’s case.
The Singer Previously Made Similar Legal Moves

Cher claimed in her current petition that her son immediately squandered the money he received from his late father, Gregg Allman’s trust, on drugs. However, the judge noted that since the troubled son is in the hospital, he would not have access to those funds left by Gregg, who passed away in 2017.
This is not the first time the “Mermaids” actress has filed for temporary conservatorship for her son’s estate. She previously raised the same issue in court in December 2023 when she requested herself as the sole conservator. Almost a year later, she voluntarily dismissed her petition on the premise that they were focused on rebuilding their fractured relationship.
In September 2024, Allman’s attorneys shared that the outcome of the case “allows the parties to focus on healing and rebuilding their family bond, a process that began during mediation and continues today.” The “Believe” singer stated in her new filing that her son’s life had “significantly deteriorated” since the last conservatorship petition made its way in court. This time, she did not ask to be the conservator; the Grammy winner requested that fiduciary Jason Rubin fill the position.
The Goddess Of Pop Says Her Son Has ‘No Concept Of Money’

To buttress her points about Allman’s deteriorated mental health, Cher alleged in her filing that her troubled son struggles to manage money. She stated that his addiction to drugs has a hold on him as he spends his funds “almost exclusively on drugs, expensive hotels, and limousine transportation.”
The iconic singer also claimed that her 49-year-old son has accumulated substantial debt, including a $200,000 tax bill and unpaid expenses tied to property damage at several short-term rentals. As reported by The Blast, Cher cited previous incidents to prove that her claims, including a time when he owed a drug dealer $18,000, did not pay off the debt, and had to rely on a friend to intervene.
Cher also alleged in her filing that Allman got deep in legal issues for a close friend who had been supporting him over an incident involving a $50,000 rental damage bill. Other examples showed that the “Deadsy” vocalist has a pattern of erratic behavior and was even accused of behaving inappropriately toward a hotel staff member as he “aggressively proposed sexual relations.”
The Grammy Winner Recently Unveiled A Decade-Old Secret

Admittedly, Allman has brought his fair share of troubles into his mom’s life, but Cher recently discovered she has a bundle of joy courtesy of her troubled son. The Goddess of pop found out this month that her wish of becoming a grandmother was made true years ago, unbeknownst to her.
The 49-year-old welcomed a daughter in 2010 with his then-lover, Kayti Edwards, but the child was kept a secret since her birth. The singer found out about Allman’s daughter, named Ever, after reaching out to Kayti last June to ask if her teenage daughter was indeed her grandchild. The Blast reported that Kayti admittedly disclosed that she had no intentions of hiding the truth, but her former lover was not ready to be a dad.
According to Kayti, Ever was conceived after spending the night with Allman during their brief relationship and was fully aware of his daughter’s existence. He would allegedly pop in her life every couple of years to say hello, but never fully committed to his place as Ever’s father. Cher revealed that she was stunned by the news of her granddaughter, though she had heard something about it in 2021, “but didn’t know if it was just crazy talk.”
Cher’s Son Was Arrested Twice This Year

Allman was taken into custody in February for trespassing into a prep school located in Concord, New Hampshire. The arrest took place a few minutes before 7 p.m., as reported by The Blast, and he was accused of acting “belligerently” in the facility’s dining hall.
After the incident, he was arrested and booked at the Merrimack County Jail on two counts of simple assault and one count each of criminal threatening, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct. Although it remains unclear whether the school he broke into is the same one his daughter attends, Allman reportedly told the authorities that he was “a prospective father” after trespassing into the school grounds.
Days after his first arrest, Cher’s troubled son was arrested yet again for breaking into a residential home. The second arrest stemmed from a break-in incident in Windham, New Hampshire, on March 1. The cops were alerted after a woman made a distress call from inside her closet to inform them of the trespasser.
What is next for Cher and her son?
