News of Cher’s hidden grandchild recently broke after the teenager’s mother, Kayti Edwards, revealed the secret in an emotional interview. She explained that Cher finally found out about her granddaughter, Ever, in June 2025, following Elijah’s hospitalization from an overdose.
According to Kayti, she welcomed a daughter with Elijah in 2010 during their brief relationship. However, Cher’s troubled son was not willing to be a father and was absent from their lives as Ever’s father, but he would occasionally pop up to say hello.
As for how the girl was tied to his 2026 arrest, Kayti told The Sun that she was forced to tell Ever that Elijah was her dad following the prep school incident in February. At the time, Cher’s son caused a stir when he told cops he was a “prospective father” after trespassing into the elite school.

Although it is not clear if the school Elijah broke into is the same one his teenage daughter attends, Kayti stressed that his actions had forced her hand. “Elijah did this. I’m only speaking about this now because I want this to be my story,” she said, with her voice cracking.
Kayti explained that she had kept Elijah away from Ever to protect her from his addiction and legal issues, adding that Cher was on the same page. “Cher is also very protective of Ever and the family dynamic, and she knows Elijah’s state and wants to protect that from her, too,” Kayti alleged.
The former model noted that she and Cher believed Elijah needed to clean up his act and become the man she once knew. “We need to get him better,” she declared. Elsewhere in the interview, Kayti praised Cher’s love for her son, declaring that she “goes to any lengths to help him.”

Elijah was arrested in February for trespassing into a prep school. The Blast covered the story, reporting that he broke into a school located in Concord, New Hampshire, a few minutes before 7 p.m. He was accused of acting “belligerently” in the facility’s dining hall.
Following the incident, Cher’s second son was arrested and booked at the Merrimack County Jail on two counts of simple assault and one count each of criminal trespass, criminal threatening, and disorderly conduct. Days later, Elijah was arrested a second time for breaking into a residential home.
It was reported that Elijah’s second arrest stemmed from a break-in incident in Windham, New Hampshire, on March 1. The authorities were called to the residential area after a woman in the home informed them of the trespasser while she hid in the closet.

When authorities arrived, they discovered Elijah had broken into the home through the back door and found him in the living room smoking a cigarette. He was arrested without incident and charged with burglary, two counts of criminal mischief, and breach of bail.
