According to Spread The Cheer USA's website, the organization was founded in December 2020 by Danielle Claudio who wanted to help families in need for the holidays.
"She then decided to utilize social media to reach out to see if she could help even more families," the website reads. "The campaign was called SpreadTheCheer2020. Within two weeks, over $12,000 was raised and 20 families across 15 states were surprised in person with much needed assistance and cheer."
The foundation began the Cheer Choice Awards to help celebrate positivity on social media. The goal of the event is to "raise money for charity while honoring creators who are making a difference using their platforms."
Social media fans were able to nominate their favorite creators and then eventually vote for who they feel deserves to win each category. Voting took place in November and December and winners will be announced at the event in Las Vegas the weekend of April 12-14, 2025.
