Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson Breaks Silence On Sister's Death Following Cancer Battle

Reality TV star Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell, elder sister to Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, has passed away at 29 after bravely battling stage 4 cancer. In a heartfelt post, Honey Boo Boo shared a family photo, expressing the pain of losing her sister.

Mama June Shannon confirmed the news, thanking everyone for their support during Cardwell's 10-month fight. Diagnosed in January, she faced adrenal carcinoma and underwent chemotherapy.

Thompson shared a heartbreaking post on social media, expressing her grief over the loss of her sister, Cardwell.

In her post, the 18-year-old shared a family photo and wrote in the caption, "This is one post I wish I didn't have to make. Last night we all surrounded Anna with love & let her know it was okay to go. Unfortunately, around 11 pm Anna took her last breath."

Thompson acknowledged Cardwell's year-long battle with the disease and emphasized the pain she witnessed, stating: "Anna was in so much pain last night but now as a family, we all know she is at peace now."

She added, "I really don't know what to say as my heart is completely broken. Watching my 29-year-old sister last year battle this horrible disease hasn't been easy."

The reality star expressed a broken heart and mentioned Cardwell's wish to witness her graduate college. However, she vowed to keep her sister's legacy alive adding, "We will all make sure your legacy lives on forever. And I promise to always make sure to celebrate our birthday like you never left! The sky looks a little bit different today. We will always love you Anna."

Mama June first shared the heartbreaking news of her eldest daughter's death on Instagram, revealing Cardwell's peaceful passing while surrounded by her family.

She wrote, "With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us. She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM."

The mom of four expressed gratitude for Cardwell's resilient fight over the past 10 months, adding: "She gave one h--- of a fight for 10 months she passed away with her family around her."

"We will be updating y'all with more information as we get it today. We love y'all and continued prayers and thoughts for our family [during] this difficult time," June concluded.

Users flooded the comments section with heartfelt condolences to the Shannon family.

One shared their connection to Cardwell's journey, writing, "Most of us watched Anna grow watching Here comes honey boo boo... I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a child is the worst thing anyone could ever go through. June we all love you and your crew. Rest In Peace, Anna."

Another, currently battling cancer, empathized with the family's pain, stating: "My heart is with your family I'm in a cancer battle myself. I can't imagine the pain your family feels. I have had the chance to interview you when I worked at CBS Atlanta. You are a wonderful family."

Cardwell was first diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in January. According to reports, she received the devastating news of adrenal carcinoma after undergoing tests for persistent stomach aches.

The cancer was identified in her liver, kidney, and lung. At the time, family members were reportedly optimistic about her recovery as she commenced her initial round of chemotherapy. But things seemed to take a dire turn, with her mother, June, taking to social media to ask for prayers for Cardwell two days before her death.

June wrote on Instagram at the time, "Y'all we're asking for prayers for our family as we are going through this process we really appreciate y'all for all the thoughts and prayers and we will update y'all whenever we can just know that all of your thoughts and your prayers are very much appreciated during this time."
