Britney Spears Refuses To Give Up Custody Of Dogs To Sam Asghari Amid Divorce

Singer Britney Spears is reportedly refusing to give up custody of her dogs to actor Sam Asghari.

The 41-year-old pop star owned several dogs before she met the 29-year-old actor on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016. Sam got Britney a Doberman named Porscha shortly after their September 2021 engagement. Britney later adopted an Australian Shepherd puppy named Sawyer while on vacation in Maui in February 2022, shortly before their June 2022 wedding.

The "Toxic" singer has shared several photos and videos of her dogs this past summer, especially videos that included Sawyer. When she first adopted him in 2022, she could not stop gushing about his gorgeous blue eyes.

On Friday, one source told the Daily Mail that Britney is worried that Sam is going to try to take back the two dogs that they got during their relationship: Porscha and Sawyer. “Regarding [Britney and Sam's shared] property, the most difficult part of dividing any assets will be their two dogs,” the source explained. “But Sam gave Porsha to Britney as a present and she was the one who wanted to adopt Sawyer when they were in Maui.”

In addition to Sawyer and Porscha, Britney also has a Maltese pup named Lulu and a cat named Wendy, but she had adopted them prior to their relationship. In October 2021, Sam surprised Britney when he adopted a Doberman. “Surprised my fiancé [sic] with our newest member to the Family. Porsha,' he wrote in the caption of an Instagram video at the time.

“Her name is Porsha and she's meant to unconditionally love you,” Sam said, adding that the dog would “be trained to protect you from any motherf***er that comes around you with bad intentions.”

In February 2022, Britney hinted that she might even love Sawyer more than Sam in the caption of an Instagram post showing off her new pet pooch, writing, “Geez …. Can you have two loves of your lives because he comes in second !!!! I’m introducing the new edition to my family … his name is Sawyer and he’s a white Australian shepherd with blue eyes !!!!!”

“I found him in Maui like a dream and took him home with me immediately. It’s funny … he doesn’t talk back but it’s like he understands what I’m saying !!!” Britney wrote at the time. “I think he understands me, especially with those eyes … he makes my heart melt … he needs me and I like that !!!”

It remains what other property Sam might contest in the divorce, despite Britney’s prenup protecting her extensive music catalog. In the divorce filing, Sam wrote: “Petitioner has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party. There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to Petitioner at this time”

That being said, it looks like Britney doesn’t mind giving Sam back the engagement ring that the actor proposed with in September 2021. The diamond ring was designed by jeweler Roman Malayev, but the outlet reported that the “Special Ops: Lioness” actor was given the ring for free in order to generate publicity for the brand.

“Sam can have that ring. It was free from the jeweler and she doesn't want it anymore. She has enough diamonds,” the source said.

Although there have been conflicting reports as to whether Britney is still close with her mother, Lynne Spears, or her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, one source told the outlet that Britney still has a strong support system amid the divorce.

“She is not alone at all. Britney has her sister Jamie Lynn who is in and out of LA and she also has her mom Lynne, who is expected to arrive this weekend, if she has not flown in already,” the insider divulged. “She has a support system including her agent and longtime friend [and manager] Cade [Hudson], her friends which include several of her backup dancers and her girlfriends.”

In addition to her friends and family, the source went on to say that Britney also “has a team of assistants and her chef who are always around the houses. She also has other workers who are constantly there.” It looks like many of her famous friends are coming out to support the pop star.

“This past week, Britney has been getting calls and texts from everyone she knows, including people she hasn't spoken to in years,” the source added. “She will get through this. She has gotten through worse and no one will allow anything to happen to her.”
