Britney Spears Was Reportedly In Contact With Her Sons ‘Weeks Ago’

Singer Britney Spears hasn't seen her two sons in a long time, but apparently, they have been in contact with one another.

The "Mind Your Business" singer was married to her ex-husband Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007. The two share two children together: Sean Preston Federline, 17, and Jayden James Federline, 16. The two moved to Hawaii with their father on August 1 after his wife, Victoria, was offered a job at the sports department at a university in the state.

Although the two boys reportedly did not see their mother before the move, they were in contact with their mother a few weeks before they left the state, according to K-Fed's lawyer.

According to Kevin Federline’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, Britney Spears got a chance to speak to her two teenage sons “probably a couple of weeks ago,” even though they declined to see their mother in person before hopping on a plane and moving to Hawaii.

Kaplan told Page Six that he was not aware if Britney and her sons had any contact since they moved, especially with wildfires devastating Maui. Kaplan told the outlet that although the devastation has made the boys “very sad,” they are still “happy” to be living in Hawaii.

“[They are] not personally [affected], but there are people in the area that are dying and having their homes destroyed, so it’s very traumatic,” he said. “Obviously, right now, everyone is very sad about what’s going on there with the fires and the casualties from the fires, but other than the trauma from that, they’re very happy to be there.”

Aside from the news about the wildfires, Kaplan said that the boys “love it there,” adding, “They had been there before they decided to make the move, but they’re very happy there.” He went on to say that the boys are still “excited” about the move, adding, “They’re living in paradise.”

Although he said that the boys do have some “trauma” regarding the wildfires,” the two teenagers are “very excited” to be “building a future in a new environment, making new friends, and exploring new opportunities.”

At this time, Jayden is finishing up his classes remotely at his former school in Los Angeles. Preston will be starting school in Hawaii, although it's unclear what the almost 18-year-old plans to do next.

According to the recent Hulu special, “TMZ Investigates Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom,” things between Britney and her sons were so bad that “By the end of the summer [2022], tensions got so bad that the boys weren’t even responding to her texts. And she was furious,” according to TMZ producer Katie Hayes.

A source told Page Six at the time that the last time that Britney saw her sons in person was in “the very beginning of 2022,” before she married Iranian actor Sam Asghari in June of that same year. The “Toxic” singer and her sons had been publicly feuding after Jayden criticized his mother’s parenting in an interview with the Daily Mail.

“I think Mom has struggled giving us both attention and showing us equal love; I don’t think she showed enough to Preston, and I feel really bad for that,” Jayden told the Daily Mail in September 2022. To add more fuel to the fire, Kevin Federline told the outlet that the boys were angry at their mother over her social media posts, which often pictured the singer unclothed.

“I try to explain to them, ‘Look, maybe that’s just another way she tries to express herself.’ But that doesn’t take away from the fact of what it does to them,” he told the Daily Mail in a separate interview. “It’s tough. I can’t imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school.”

In a since-deleted Instagram post following Jayden’s statement, Britney said that it “deeply saddens” her to know that Jayden said she “wasn’t up to his expectations of a mother.”

She went on to say, “Maybe one day we can meet face to face and talk about this openly !!!!” However, it appears that has yet to happen.
