Sam Asghari recently starred in the new series “Special Ops: Lioness” and fans were looking forward to him appearing at the premiere with his wife, Britney Spears, as it has been a while since the last time they made a red carpet appearance as a couple. Unfortunately, the event was canceled due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which, much like the WGA writer’s strike, still shows no end in sight.

The actor shared a link to a Deadline article in his Instagram Stories announcing that the premiere had been canceled. Paramount+ released a statement announcing the decision to cancel the red carpet event, which had originally been scheduled for Tuesday, July 18.

“In light of today’s news of an official SAG strike, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the red carpet premiere of Special Ops: Lioness, planned for Tuesday, July 18,” read a statement from the streamer. “We recognize this is disappointing news and apologize for any inconvenience it causes. We are very excited to celebrate the series and can’t wait for it to debut to Paramount+ audiences on July 23rd.”

As part of the strike, Sam and other actors are not allowed to promote their projects on social media. They are also not allowed to make in-person appearances or act, sing, or do any motion capture work as long as the strike continues.
