Gal Gadot Confirms "Wonder Woman 3" But Fans Want Henry Cavill Too

James Gunn and Peter Safran have surely shaken things up in the DC Universe. Late last year, fans were disappointed to hear that Gal Gadot had been “removed” as Wonder Woman, the same way Henry Cavill was dumped as Superman. But now, Gadot has some news, and it may please her fans…
Gal Gadot “Wonder Woman 3” Snubbed In 2022
Gadot first debuted as Diana Prince in 2016's “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. She headlined the 2017 “Wonder Woman” and also its 2020 sequel, “Wonder Woman 1984”, which showed featured Chris Pine as her love interest, Steve Trevor. Both movies came helmed by director Patty Jenkins. Gadot also made an appearance in “Justice League” as well as the Zack Snyder-helmed director's cut which polarized the audience.
When Gunn and Safran took over DC Studios for Warner Bros, everything went haywire, given that news came that “Wonder Woman 3” had been scrapped. In December 2022, Jenkins submitted her treatment of the third “Wonder Woman” movie, co-written with Geoff Johns. Allegedly, Gunn and Safran, as well as Warner Bros. Pictures co-chairs and co-CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy shot it down, telling Jenkins that her project did not sync with the new and still-developing direction for DC Studios.
Jenkins even took to Twitter to clear the air about what happened, clarifying that it wasn’t her decision to make…

James Gunn also took to Twitter to give a muddled explanation, “So. As for the story yesterday in the Hollywood Reporter, some of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, & some of it we haven’t decided yet whether it’s true or not.”
He also supported Jenkins, replying, “I can attest that all of Peter and my interactions with you were only pleasant and professional.”
But Now, Gal Gadot "Wonder Woman 3" In Pipeline
In December 2022, just two days before the story broke that Gadot was perhaps not going to play Wonder Woman again, she took to Instagram to celebrate the anniversary, writing, “On this day, a few years ago, was the first announcement that I was going to play Wonder Woman. I’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character, and more than anything I’m grateful for YOU. The fans. The most amazing, warm, loving fans in the world.”
Given that at this time there was no news of “Wonder Woman 3” being scrapped, Gadot gushed, “I’m still pinching myself to see if I will wake up. Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you.”
Then news dropped and Gadot kept mum. Meanwhile, fans were left even more confused when she appeared in a cameo in “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.” Strangely, her supposed cameo in “The Flash” starring Ezra Miller, where she was supposed to have appeared alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman was scrapped.
In a recent interview, before the SAG-AFTRA strike, Gadot stated that as she understands it, she will be taking Wonder Woman further, with Gunn and Safran.
"I love portraying Wonder Woman," Gadot says. "It's so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we're gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together."
Since there is no “Wonder Woman 3” movie in development right now, what this means is still under wraps. For now, there is Chapter One of DC Universe, called “Gods and Monsters.” There are also plans for a series, “Paradise Lost” based on the Amazons on Themiscyra. Additionally, Gunn has hinted that he's interested in developing a Wonder Woman animated series.

Fans Still Mad At DC For Dropping Henry Cavill
Meanwhile, despite Dwayne Johnson claiming credit for bringing Henry Cavill back, DC has firmly removed both superheroes for now. David Corenswet is confirmed to play Clark Kent in the upcoming movie, “Superman: Legacy”, directed by Gunn with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. When quizzed about it, she gave a politically correct answer, “I saw that they were testing, doing different screen tests, but I don't know who got it, but it seemed like everyone was super legit and talented and, like, great. So I'm happy for them. It's such a huge take-on and it's such an exciting beginning to any actor, and I wish whoever it's going to be the best of luck and enjoy the ride.”
Fans are happy for Gadot but have an issue with Cavill and Affleck being dropped, with many airing their disappointment on social media.
