Alec Baldwin Allegedly ‘Yelled At’ Server At Pen America Gala

On Thursday, actor Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, attended the 2023 Pen America Spring Literary Gala at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
The 65-year-old actor embraced his wife as the two posed for pictures on the red carpet. It was the couple's first public appearance since the "Rust" charges were formally dropped against the actor, although special prosecutors warned that the investigation is still ongoing and charges could still be refiled.
Although the couple looked as happy as could be on the red carpet, things apparently changed inside the event, where a source claims that the "Saturday Night Live" actor "yelled at" a server, leaving her "looking shocked."
Alec Baldwin Allegedly Leaves Server 'Shocked' After 'Yelling At' Her At The Pen America Gala
A source who attended the event told Page Six that a young server was left "looking shocked" after the actor "berated" her at the gala. Baldwin reportedly stood up to chat with someone only a few minutes before "the line of servers come all at once to deliver the meals."
One female server, who was “probably in her late 20s or early 30s” was stuck standing behind the actor, who was standing and talking to an anonymous individual. “Then, when she could pass, she started putting plates on the table,” the insider explained. “I guess he didn’t like that she did that with him standing there.”
Baldwin then allegedly began "scolding her" although it is not clear what was said. However, the server was overheard telling someone else, "I don't know why he yelled at me." The insider noted that Baldwin's wife, Hilaria, was not present for the incident.
“I’m guessing he felt it was rude of her to start putting plates down while he was standing there,” the insider speculated, adding that the incident was "quick" and they think it "went unnoticed for the most part."
The event was hosted by Colin Jost and honored "Saturday Night Live" creator Lorne Michaels. Salman Rushdie was a surprise guest at the event, marking his first in-person appearance since he lost an eye during a gruesome attack at a literary festival in New York last August.
The 75-year-old author said, “It’s nice to be back — as opposed to not being back, which was also a possibility. I’m glad the dice rolled this way" after he received a standing ovation from the audience.
Alec Baldwin Poses For Photos At The Pen America Gala
On Thursday night, the "Supercell" actor took to Instagram to share a photograph of him and his wife posing alongside Tahgi Rahmani. "At the PEN AMERICA benefit honoring LORNE MICHAELS. Also, imprisoned Iranian writer @narges_mohamadi_51," he wrote in the caption.
"Narges Mohammadi received the 2023 PEN/Barbey Freedom to Write Award, which was accepted by her husband, Tahgi Rahmani (pictured here). Unbelievable courage on both of their parts," he added. Fans were quick to congratulate the post and share their support for all those who attended the event.
The actor also took to Instagram on Friday morning to share a photograph that Hilaria had shared herself on Thursday. In the caption, the actor wrote, "Grandma and Grandpa head out for an evening …"
The actor had officially become a grandfather when the 27-year-old daughter that he shares with his ex-wife, Kim Basinger, Ireland Baldwin, revealed that she had her baby earlier in the day. Ireland and her boyfriend, RAC, welcomed a daughter named Holland.
"He was annoyed with me because I made him come out of elevator for a pic…it was worth it," Hilaria wrote in the caption of her own photo. "We dress up so rarely now that Edu asked me: 'mommy, what’s on your eyeballs?' 'Makeup', I told him…I feel judged by a 2 year old," she joked.
"Swipe to see the back of this handmade dress and the brilliant designer @guvanchnyc. Hair by @jaredmriccardi. now Alec has to figure out how to untie the back and get me out of it…which means it might be my pjs until I can get help tomorrow from someone else," she joked.
She also shared another photo showing the two of them dressed up for the gala while their children looked like they were getting ready for bed.
In the caption, Hilaria wrote, “All of these aunties and uncles and us grandparents are so excited that Holland is here!!! Congratulations to the mama and papa, Ireland, and Andre. We love you so very much!” Alec Baldwin commented “Miracle” on the post while Ireland responded with a single emoji.
