TikTok famous Corn Kid is about to celebrate his birthday on Saturday and in honor of the day, he’s giving back to his community.
Tariq, Corn Kid’s real name, is fundraising for a charity that’s local to him in New York City called City Harvest. He’s hoping that with his fans help, he can raise $8,000 in honor of his 8th birthday.
Corn Kid Is Raising Money For City Harvest In Honor Of His Birthday
Tariq shared videos on both TikTok and Instagram to explain what his goal is and how his fans can help.
“May is a very exciting time for me,” he began his video. “I’m turning 8 years old on the 13th of May. How cool is that? I really love helping others and decided that instead of gifts this year, I want to raise money for City Harvest.”
He then adorably explained what City Harvest is all about.
“City Harvest is the biggest food rescue organization in New York City, and they feed millions, and I mean millions, of people,” he continued. “I want to raise $8,000 for my 8th birthday for the Share Lunch Fight Hunger program that feeds kids all during the summer.”
Tariq then asked for any donation, no matter how big or small, to help his team raise the money he’s hoping to be able to donate to the organization.

On his official fundraising page for City Harvest, he explains why he’s trying to help out.
“Hi! My name is Tariq, but I’m sure many of you know me as Corn Kid! The last year has been incredible for me and my family. I never knew that loving corn as much as I do could bring so much good into my life,” his page reads.
“It’s always been important to me to give back to my community. It makes me sad to think there are kids in NYC who don’t have enough to eat. I want to help make a difference and give back to others.”
He then explained that if he’s able to meet his goal of $8,000, that he will be helping 18,400 children in New York City to get a nutritious meal this summer.
“In addition to my fundraiser, my friends and I area also going to volunteer at City Harvest this month to pack meals for families in need,” he wrote. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my birthday!”
So far, Tariq has raised nearly $2,000.

Corn Kid’s fans left comments on his videos about what he’s doing for the organization, as well as birthday wishes for the corntastic child.
City Harvest left the comment, “We couldn’t be more grateful, Tariq! 💚💚”
One fan wrote, “This is so sweet!!! We got this!!!! ❤️❤️” and another added, “You will have an amazing birthday.”
Tariq Explained His Desire To Fundraise For City Harvest On His Local News
Tariq was recently on PIX 11 News talking about raising money for City Harvest. He shared a clip of his interview on his social media pages.
“The reason I chose to do this for my birthday is because, even though I really love Pokémon, but that can wait because helping people in need is way more important than a birthday party,” he said.

Some of Tariq’s followers were tagging Pokémon in the comments and others were saying he deserves to get all the Pokémon for wanting to help out the organization.
“Also! somebody please get this baby all the Pokémon he wants, 🥺🥰” one follower wrote. Another added, “Tariq you have such a big heart 🥰.”
