Jennifer Hudson Seemingly Has Soft Launch With Rumored Beau Common, Fans Disapprove

Jennifer Hudson might be showing off her latest rumored boyfriend, Lonnie Rashid Lynn, popularly known as Common, more than a year after he ended things with Tiffany Haddish.

In honor of the rapper's 51st birthday on Monday, March 13, Hudson could not help but celebrate him on social media. However, fans weren't big on the revelation, expressing displeasure with the supposed relationship.

The "Confirmation" actress recently marked the rapper's birthday with a lovely message on Instagram. She declared, "Team Jhud, please help me wish one of the brightest lights, a Chicago and hip hop legend, the one and only @common, a very happy birthday on today!"

Alongside the note was an adorable image of the beaming duo photographed with their arms around each other in a corridor.  Hudson was dressed in a deep purple velvet dress with a turtleneck and long sleeves, while her rumored beau wore a gray ensemble comprising pants and a button-down jacket with a peach undershirt.

The Broadway star had her hair styled into a high bun atop her head while pairing her outfit with dangling silver earrings, a matching bracelet, and a ring. Even with how charming the alleged couple looked, fans were not so taken with their involvement as some took to the comments to voice their opinions.

One Jhud follower wished Common a happy birthday but hoped he was not the songstress' new boo, adding that she could do better. 

They also wrote, "Don't get me wrong, he's a great person, but he doesn't commit, and he's hurt several."  Another fan agreed, penning, "This man has commitment issues; please don't be another piece in his jigsaw puzzle."

A third commenter who feared for Hudson's well-being wished the celebrant a happy birthday but advised the 41-year-old to "run." One other fan noted that the "Hunter Killer" actor was "emotionally unavailable," while a concerned commenter begged Hudson not to fall for her rumored partner.

The same fan added, "Just a suggestion! No woman needs "common" people – You deserve better." At the same time, a sixth follower exclaimed: 

"You better not, Jenn!!!! No, he always gets our icons and leaves them on friendship status. This man's end goal is not marriage. RUN!!!! Unless you just having fun."

A seventh commenter questioned if Hudson was Common's "latest gurl" before advising her not to get caught up in the game. Another fan simply expressed, "Run, girl."

Similarly, one follower pointed out that the 51-year-old actor only dated with no intention of marriage while imploring the "Empire" actress to be smart about getting attached to such a person. 

News of Hudson's possible relationship with Common made headlines toward the end of last year. Still, neither made any comments, even after they were spotted having dinner together last month. As The Blast reported, the twosome appeared to enjoy a romantic dinner at a Malibu restaurant, Nobu, sporting casual outfits.

The EGOT winner rocked a cropped puffer jacket, oversized pants, and pink boots while her companion was clad in khaki trousers, a paint-splattered hoodie, and white sneakers. Hudson and Common avoided any form of public affection as they were snapped leaving the restaurant. Nevertheless, that would not be their first outing as a supposed couple.

Fans would recall that the duo met on the set of their new film "Breathe" and ever since, they have been seen spending time together, much to the fans' surprise.

Common's history with prominent women goes as far back as the nineties when he rose to fame and got into the dating plane with no plans of marriage. 

According to PEOPLE, he dated Kim Jones until 1998, and from 2000 to 2002, he got involved with Erykah Badu, whom he later described as his "first love." In 2005, the "Smallfoot" actor began a private relationship with Taraji P. Henson but called it quits years after on good terms.

Between 2007 and 2018, he dated Serena Williams and political analyst Angela Rye before having an affair with Haddish in 2020 after initially meeting on the set of "The Kitchen" in 2019.

Following their split in 2021, the pair kept in touch, but speculations later arose regarding Common's involvement with Hudson which neither has confirmed.
