Tiffany Haddish wants to add a new title to her long list of accomplishments. The “Night School” star recently opened up about her music career and hopes for the future.
Haddish also dropped some thoughts about collaborating with some big names in the industry, including her ex-boyfriend, Common.
Tiffany Haddish Discusses Her Music
While on her way to the airport, the stand-up comedian was approached by TMZ to discuss her low-key music career. The interviewer expressed excitement about Haddish’s upcoming music career, but she corrected him, saying she wasn’t upcoming.
“If you go on Apple right now, you’ll hear music from me. I’ve been dropping music,” she said. When asked why she decided to make a career transition from acting to singing, reiterated, “it’s not a bit of career change. I’ve been making music.”
She then urged the rep to go to streaming platforms and search for her name. “I’ve been doing it for years,” she argued. The interviewer then asked if she had any plans to collaborate with other names in the industry, and Haddish affirmatively answered yes.
“The Last Black Unicorn” author revealed that she would focus on just two genres: hip-hop and classical music, but her utmost desire isn’t to go viral with her music.
Haddish shared that she plans to use her music in her movies and TV shows, and if in the process she goes viral, that works for her. As for her most desired collab, Haddish mentioned none other than the queen herself, Beyonce.
When asked if she would ever work with her ex-lover Common, the comedian answered excitedly, saying, “sure, we’re friends.” Haddish noted that she has no new music coming out soon, but fans can go listen to her old stuff in the meantime.
The South LA native has indeed dabbled in some music. She recently uploaded a music video of her tune “Come and Get Ya Baby Daddy,” featuring Trina on her official YouTube video. In the hilarious clip, veteran actor John Amos and Jada Pinkett Smith made cameos.
The ‘Nobody’s Fool’ Star Knows What She Wants In Her New Man
As The Blast previously reported, Haddish and Common called it quits after one year of dating in November 2021. An insider revealed that the pair’s busy schedules were the major reason behind the split.
“They are never in the same city together and both of them are just too busy for a serious relationship,” the source said.
Since ending things with Common, the 42-year-old has been open about her love life and trying to date again. During a recent appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Haddish spoke about what she desires in her new man now that she’s back on dating apps.
Talking about her dealbreakers and requirements, the Grammy Award winner said, “Good credit score because I need to know you’re responsible. You need to have good hygiene. That’s really important to me. I can’t stand bad breath or funky armpits.”
She continued, “I’ve been attracted to a lot of hip-hop kind of guys, and I don’t mind men wearing jewelry, but if you own a bunch of diamonds, but you don’t own no land, that’s a problem for me.”
Haddish couldn’t help but add her impeccable sense of humor to the conversation when she said, “Land then diamonds. Because where do the diamonds come from? The land. So own the land, then get the diamonds. Like, I got diamonds, yes I do, because I got land!”
When asked by Myers if people often get “intimidated” when they go on dates with her, Haddish joked that all men are scared of her.
