Fans have been asking Britney Spears to give them a video proving once and for all that she's alive and well for months.
The 41-year-old pop star finally posted a video on Friday afternoon to assure her fans that she is not alive amid reports that her husband, Sam Asghari, was planning an intervention.
Britney Spears Appears On Video To Tell Fans ‘I Didn’t Die, People!’
In a 23-second clip posted to Instagram on Friday afternoon, the “Hold Me Closer” singer assured fans that she was “alive and well” as she showed off her “funky fashion” sense. The video begins with a title card that reads “The media this week said…”
“…I died,” Britney says as she appears in the video. “I didn’t die, people. I didn’t die. I’m here. I’m alive. Yeah, I’m very much alive and well. And, um, I’ve got my fur here. You see, I’m feeling myself?” Britney asks as she wraps the shawl around her body. “Yeah, I’m feeling myself.”
“I’m here. I’m happy. And I’m well. And, um, that’s it. That’s it,” Britney says, closing out the video saying, “skip, skip, skip” several times.
In the caption, Britney wrote, “This week in the news it said that I almost died and that I have a manager and ‘doctors’ !!! I don’t have a management team nor will I ever again in my life !!! I don’t have ‘medical doctors’ !!! I take Prozac for depression and that’s about it 🤷🏼♀️ !!! I’m an extremely boring person !!!”
Britney continued, “It frustrates me to know that any news outlet would say any of this !!! It’s worse than a cruel joke because people actually believe this stuff and all of my efforts in getting better with my little routine of prayer and therapy seem to not count for anything when people can say things that are incredibly wrong !!!”
“Anyways change of the subject … enough drama … I’m into diamond gowns and funky fashion at the moment 👗 !!! Good Morning ☀️ !!!!!” she continued, later posting another picture to show that she was tired of the “negativity and drama.”
About an hour after her initial post, the “Oops!...I Did It Again” singer shared posted a picture on Instagram that featured a weepy-eyed princess in a pink dress.
“There’s too much negativity and drama going around … I’m a unicorn 🦄 today because I want to be !!!” Britney wrote in the caption, adding, “Psss I’m only wearing real diamonds from now on 💎 !!!”
The “Toxic” singer then followed that up with a third Instagram post. This video was set to the tune of The Outfield’s “Your Love.”
The video features Britney wearing the same outfit that she wore for her first video as she struts around in front of the camera.
“If the world says bad things about me … you can guarantee I will find my way to brighten things ☀️ !!! I always have … it’s in my destiny !!! I’ve lost some weight … but it feels kinda nice 👍🏼 !!!” Britney wrote in the caption, potentially referring to her "ice cream diet."
In a deleted Twitter post at the end of January, Britney wrote, “I’m sensitive and honestly I would rather take a break and do my ice cream diet anyway … I know I thought it was a joke too … but it’s not … it works … surprisingly enough !!!” She has not shared any more details about it since.
Sources Claim That Britney Is Still In Need Of An Intervention
On Thursday, TMZ was the first to report that Britney's husband was among those planning an intervention for the pop star. According to their report, the plan was to keep Britney in a rental house in the Los Angeles area for two months so she could go through medical treatment and counseling.
On Friday morning, TMZ shared statements from several anonymous sources that claimed that Britney was a "ticking time bomb" and a "danger to herself and those around her.
"The intervention was long overdue. She is very much a danger to herself and those around her," one source alleged. "It's a ticking time bomb. Thank god somebody finally took some steps to do something about it."
“This is 2008 all over again. There is serious fear she is either going to die or kill someone. She is abusing caffeine, Adderall, and anything she can get her hands on,” another insider claimed. “She is not taking her medication, which is essential to stabilize her mood, and is unknowingly trying to self-medicate with other substances, which is exacerbating her mental illness.”
“I worry about waking up in the morning and feeling like I’m going to get a horrible phone call,” a third source alleged. “She has unbelievable untreated trauma that with the help of therapists and specialists could put her in a much better place. An intervention is essential to make that happen,” a fourth insider was quoted as saying.
It's unclear who these sources are, but Britney wants to make it clear that she is alive and well. In her own Instagram post on Thursday night, Britney wrote, “It makes me sick to my stomach that it’s even legal for people to make up stories that I almost died … I mean at some point enough is enough !!!”
She even admitted, “I’m probably going to have to stop posting on Instagram because even though I enjoy doing it, there’s obviously a lot of people who don’t wish me well !!!”
“I’m honestly not surprised at all … Again doing the best I can !!! Again, the conservatorship has been over for almost a year … No folks, it’s not 2007 … it’s 2023 and I’m making my first homemade lasagna at home !!!” she wrote, adding, “I finally got my fireplace to work in my living room !!! As my hubby says it best: don’t believe everything you read !!! All that love right back at ya !!!”
