Alexa Nikolas Protests 'Zoey 101' Reboot, Wants Former Costars To Speak Out Against Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon alum Alexa Nikolas recently called out the producers of the "Zoey 101" reboot, claiming that the new show would only serve to damage survivors. The actress previously played Nicole Bristol in Nickelodeon's "Zoey 101" and, years later, appeared in movies like "Hidden Hills," "That's Life," The Walking Dead," and "Revelations."
For years, Nikolas has been open about her alleged abuse during the show. One of the incidents, the actress claimed, involved a then-pregnant Britney Spears screaming at her. Britney is the sister of Jamie Lynn Spears, who played the titular character in "Zoey 101."
With the reboot currently in production with late 2023 as the release date, Nikolas has stepped up to protest it. The actress claimed that the show had caused too much damage to people to consider a reboot.

Alexa Nikolas Protests 'Zoey 101' Reboot
Speaking to TMZ, Nikolas revealed that while making "Zoey 101," she was traumatized. She joined the group of people outside the Nickelodeon headquarters in Burbank to protest the upcoming remake. Nikolas also expressed her feelings towards her previous co-stars that have agreed to star in the reboot.
Nikolas shared some discontent toward the show's cast, claiming that they were supporting a network that had apparently contributed to her childhood trauma.
According to Nikolas, the fact that the studio was even producing a reboot showed its disregard towards the group of people that had come out to talk about the alleged abuse they suffered. She also said that it sent abuse survivors worldwide a bad message concerning the studio.
Alexa Nikolas Hopes Her Old Co-Stars Would Protest The Reboot
The Disney alum also revealed that she hopes that her old co-stars will join her in her protest against the reboot. If they could not contribute in that manner, then she wants them to at least support her for her courage. Nikolas hopes they will eventually become advocates for the show's survivors and demand safer working conditions.
For years, Nikolas has been open about the alleged abuse she suffered from Nickelodeon executives. According to the actress, she was pressured to take alcohol at just 18 and given unwanted massages from a higher-up. She also said that she was offered hush money to cover it up.
Nikolas previously disclosed an incident that happened on the show when Britney, Jamie's sister, yelled at her. While the artist has since apologized, Nikolas said Nickelodeon has yet to. "She has apologized to me personally," the actress said. "Actually, Britney Spears apologized, but Nickelodeon hasn't. Isn't that funny? Yeah, Britney Spears apologized, and not Nickelodeon."
Jamie Lynn Spears Will Return To 'Zoey 101'
Earlier this month, Paramount+ revealed that Jamie, the lead star in "Zoey 101," would join the rest of the cast in the reboot. The current name for the show is "Zoey 102," and it is in production in North Carolina. Besides Jamie, several of the original cast will once again tour the Pacific Coast Academy after over a decade away.
They include Sean Flynn (Chase Matthews), Erin Sanders (Quinn Pensky), Abby Wilde (Stacey Dillsen), Jack Salvatore (Mark Del Figgalo), Christopher Massey (Michael Barret), and Matthew Underwood (Logan Reese).
Jamie said in a statement, per TVLine, "I'm beyond thrilled to be back alongside my PCA family and continue the story of Zoey and all the characters fans know and love. As an executive producer, it's been an exciting opportunity to work with such incredible talent as well as Paramount+ and Nickelodeon."
'Zoey 101' Reboot Is Set To Be Released This Year
Besides Nikolas, "Elvis" star Austin Butler will also not be a part of the "Zoey 101" reboot. The actor played one of the regular faces, James Garrett, on the show and was in several episodes until it stopped airing in 2008. The reboot will take place in the present day, nearly two decades after the show was rebooted in 2005.
The entire cast, sans Jamie, Butler, and Nikolas, met up in Los Angeles in 2019 and posted a clip of themselves. The video featured all of them telling Jamie that they missed her before breaking out into the theme song of "Zoey 101." They said, "We miss you; we wish you could be here."
Jamie shared the video on her Instagram page with the caption, "Not only did I miss the reunion, but I also missed the FaceTime because I'm lame and fell asleep. thank y'all for the video, and hope to see y'all very soon."
