Kim Cattrall is saying goodbye to a beloved family member.
Over the years, fans have become accustomed to seeing the actress sharing the occasional glimpse of her mother, Shane Cattrall, showering her with praise. Unfortunately, that will no longer happen as the "Tribute" star has announced the matriarch's death with her millions of fans. She did not mention the cause or date of death.
Kim Cattrall Mourns The Loss Of Her Mom With Sweet Tribute
Even though she lived to 93 and enjoyed a seemingly good life thanks to Kim's success and support, Shane's demise would be felt by the people who knew and loved her. In fact, when her famous daughter announced her passing to her 1.1 million fans, her sadness resonated through the post.
The "Sex and The City" alum uploaded multiple photos of her and Shane smiling at the camera at various life-shifting events, including graduation. In the collage, placed on the third slide, the mother-daughter duo is seen sharing a warm embrace, talking about something in the background, and laughing without a care in the world.
A swipe to the left unveiled a younger Shane laughing out loud before posing with Kim — as a toddler — in front of a tree in a black-and-white photo. Another image showed the Golden Globe winner for Best Supporting Actress in 2002 in the middle of an air kiss.
The actress's eyes were closed as she leaned into her late mother, who was wearing a pair of designer sunglasses. The final slot in the tribute captured a white flower — most likely a gardenia — planted alongside a cardboard sign carrying her mother's name and the years 1929 - 2022.
The "Shane Cattrall 1929 - 2022. Rest in peace Mum [red heart emoji]" captioned post prompted Kim's friends and fans to share their condolences with her. Comedian Alan Carr wrote:
"Sorry darling. Sending you lots of love [red heart emoji]," while "Queer as Folk" reboot front-runner Stephen Dunn added, "sending all my love [red heart and star emojis]."
Soho House's Global Director of Art, Kate Bryan, commented, "I am so sorry for your loss Kim. We all owe your mum [a] big time for gifting us you! Sending you love and light."
"I am so sorry for your loss," one fan began before adding, "I loved your mum and her sisters in Who Do You Think You Are. I hope her passing was peaceful. My thoughts are with you all." Another fan seconded, "I am so sorry for your loss kim! You're in my thoughts! May she rest peacefully. All my love to you at this time."
As previously mentioned, Kim has consistently highlighted her love for her mother on social media. In March, the "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country" actress posted a selfie from her late mother's 93rd birthday bash on Twitter.
The pic featured Shane in a yellow polka dot dress with a pale brown cardigan, accessorizing with layers of beaded necklaces and a smile. The tweet received over nine thousand likes from her fans and friends.
The 'Baby Geniuses' Star Has An Alleged Problem With Sarah Jessica Parker
Avid viewers of the "Sex and the City" reboot know the unending beef between Kim and her co-star Sarah Jessica Parker. The Blast shared that the two screen goddesses have spent years going back and forth with each other during conversations with the press.
In some instances, it would be Parker attempting to dispute Kim's public statements about the gradual decline of their relationship. One time, four years after the comedy-drama project ended, the 66-year-old had tried giving an insight into their nonexistent connection, stating:
"Are we the best of friends? No. We're professional actresses. We have our own separate lives."
The comment turned out to be a reply to a report from a news outlet publication that alluded that Kim and her fellow stars had fallen out over the differences in their salary. Parker, on her part, had stated in the same report:
"Honestly, we're all friends, and I wish I saw more of Kim. She mentioned money, and no one should vilify her for it. People made a decision [that] we had vilified her."
The alleged proof of the enmity between the beautiful actress can be traced back to Kim's 2017 interview with Piers Morgan, where she claimed that she and Parker had "never been friends."
