Emotions were high during the Denver Broncosvs Carolina Panthers game yesterday afternoon.
Russell Wilson and the Broncos fell short of beating Sam Darnold and the Carolina Panthers, and it is obvious the players were frustrated. Defensive lineman Mike Purcell even got in Russell Wilson’s face during the fourth quarter of the game, which was caught on camera.

Sports anchor and reporter Romi Bean shared a video of the incident to Twitter, which shows Purcell walking on the sideline past the NFL quarterback and then screaming something in his face.
The altercation occurred just moments after Purcell was flagged for unnecessary roughness on a field goal.

Some fans didn't seem to mind seeing the defensive lineman show his emotions as one fan Tweeted, "I’m happy he got in Russ face . He ain’t untouchable. Purcell the only one with the stones to call out this Overrated washed QB."
Another NFL fan commented on the incident, saying, "This team is split. No more “we’re in this together” talk. It’s done."
One Twitter user chimed in saying, "I don’t think Coach is a big Russell Wilson fan. He chose to let someone tell Russell what he’s been wanting too all along."
The Denver Broncos are now 3-8, putting them in last place of the AFC West. Despite the Carolina Panthers win, they are tied for last place with the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South.
Purcell Issues Statement Following The Altercation
“(That was) frustration,” Purcell said after the game. “We wanted (to get) a spark by something, and we’re all in this together, period. That’s the quarterback of our offense, they were about to take the field, and obviously we let up a touchdown (earlier in the second half) so we weren’t doing our job."
He concluded, "We’ve got to get a spark somewhere, and that’s all that was (was me telling him that).”
In regards to the game itself, Parcell admits the defense was not playing well. “We didn’t do our job on defense,” the defensive lineman said. “Hat’s off to them. They ran the ball, and (our run defense) just wasn’t good enough.”
Russell Wilson spoke out about the incident as well, saying there are no issues or hard feelings after the altercation and he understands that emotions were running high during the game.
“He came off after they had kicked the field goal, and he was (upset),” Wilson explained. “He just said, “We’ve got to (expletive) go, you know?’
“And I agreed… There’s no animosity at all. We’re on the same page — we’ve got to win.”
Coach Nathaniel Hackett was standing on the sideline with his headset on right in front of Purcell and Wilson when the incident occurred, however, the coach said he “didn’t see it.”
“I know they are both competitors,” Hackett said when asked about the altercation, but did not add anything else.
Next week, Russell Wilson and the 3-8 Denver Broncos will take on Lamar Jackson and the 7-4 Baltimore Ravens.
