Ashton Desormeaux was a student at St. Charles College in Sudbury, Massachusetts. When he was visiting back home in Ontario, he would spend his time arm-wrestling as he was a member of a local arm-wrestling club, along with his father Brian Desormeaux.

Both Ashton and Brian participated in the Sudbury Arm Wrestling championships on October 22, just a few days before Ashton committed the double murder and suicide.

The club posted a tribute to the Desormeaux Family on social media. When speaking to Ashton's father, Brian, the club said:

"Brian was not only an arm wrestler, but a friend, role model, teacher, promoter and like a dad to many of the younger pullers. He had a tough looking exterior but was a truly nice guy underneath. He cared about his family and the sport of arm wrestling…He was a good community member who helped out anyone who needed it."

They went on to mention Ashton's mother, Janet, who they said had an "overwhelming love" for her children and her husband. "You gave your family all of you…something you couldn't ask for more in a mom and wife," the post continued to say.

And lastly, they paid respects for the 17-year-old, writing, "Ashton, you were the next generation of arm-wrestling greats. Your passion as a child and youth for the sport is what we all want from our younger pullers. You were fierce and fiery on the table and proved that you could back up your words."

We are Coniston Minor Hockey, fundraising to help one of our hockey families get through the next several months.

Coniston as a community has experienced an unfathomable loss, and our hockey family has been left reeling and searching for ways to help. Brian coached many of our children over the years, and Janet would certainly always be heard cheering for Ashton and all of our kids on the ice. They were staples in the arena and always ready to pitch in and help throughout the community. We have tragically lost these three valuable parts of our team & community. However, their daughter Lee Ann, a young student at Laurentian University, will now face the daunting task of making funeral arrangements for those she held most dear. As we deal with this incredible loss, she is now facing a future without her family and biggest cheerleaders. We hope this campaign will assist her in getting through the next few months of meeting some of the biggest challenges of her life.
