Tia Mowry Is 'Wearing So Many Different Hats' As A Single Mom

Tia Mowry is opening up about her new life as a single mom after her divorce. Mowry shares two children, son Cree, 11, and daughter Cairo, 4, with ex-husband Cory Hardrict, and now as a single mom, she's "learning how to really be present" for her kids.

"I feel like, especially as a mom wearing so many different hats, I'm always in survival mode," the actress recently told PEOPLE. "I'm always making sure everybody is okay, everybody's alive, everybody's healthy, everybody's fed, and making sure everybody's fine, they have no holes in their socks, et cetera."

Mowry, 44, is also learning how to ensure she's not forgetting to take care of herself in the process. "It's about learning how to be aware and present with myself, and tapping in and making sure I too am taken care of," she said. "[Because] how can you take care of other people if your cup isn't filled?"

Mowry and Hardrict, 42, got married in 2008 and after 14 years of marriage separated this past October. At the time of their separation, Mowry said the two exes will maintain a friendship so they could co-parent their two kids. "I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives," Mowry wrote at the time of the separation.

As for the "Sister, Sister" star's children, she said they "are doing well" and are "continuing to thrive so beautifully." "I'm in awe of my children, especially my son right now," she told PEOPLE. "I told him the other day, 'I'm so proud of you,' that he's learning at such a young age that sometimes life will give you challenges, but that doesn't mean that you give up, that doesn't mean that you don't believe in yourself."

As for her daughter Cairo, she loves being active and "walking on her tippy toes." "I just believe that she's going to be a ballerina one day, but I also think she's going to be the President of the United States," she said. "She is so incredibly smart, she has a mind of her own. I'm obsessed with my kids."

Mowry also spoke to PEOPLE about her partnership with Lactaid and the family's love of breakfasts together. "Breakfast is huge in our family. The kids, they absolutely love breakfast and being in the kitchen with me," she said. Each of them suffer from lactose sensitivities, which is why Lactaid is a big hit in their home. "It gives me the freedom to be able to enjoy an entire glass of milk, because it's 100 percent real milk, just without the lactose," she explained.

Mowry often shares photos and videos of her children on social media. In September, Mowry shared a video on Instagram of her and her kids posing, dancing and have a great time together captioned, "Y’all mind if we drop some heat today?? ??? This is how we turn up. How about you?" One follower commented, "Cree is a vibe!" and another added, "Cree is getting so tall ?" Another fan jumped in to comment on Cairo saying, "??? Cairo kicking off her shoe." And another follower wrote, "Beautiful family. Everything about this was a vibe #Goals!"
