Tia Mowry Breaks Her Silence On Shocking Divorce

‘Sister, Sister’ star Tia Mowry has filed for divorce from her husband, Cory Hardrict, after 14 years of marriage.

Just minutes after the news broke about the shocking divorce, the 44-year-old is breaking her silence, writing an emotional Instagram post to her fans.

Tia Mowry filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Courts and is citing “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for the split, per legal documents obtained by The Blast. The 44-year-old actress is asking for joint custody of her two children. The actress hired Kim Kardashian’s lawyer — Laura Wasser — to represent her in the divorce case.

Shortly after the news of the divorce broke, Mowry took to social media to share the news with her fans.

"I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different," Mowry wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her and Hardict. "I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways. These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness."

The "Sister, Sister" actress continued, "We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children. I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family, and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives."

Other celebrities were quick to comment on Mowry's Instagram post. Daphne Oz, daughter of Dr. Oz, commented, "Sending your family so much love, Tia ❤️❤️❤️."

And actress Natasha Marc simply commented several praying hand emojis, "????????."

The divorce news comes as a shock to many, especially since Mowry has been so open and honest with her life. Fans of the 44-year-old commented their love and support as one account wrote, "Sometimes couples grow apart,it happens.Just cherish & remember the good moments,but love and happiness is everything.Good luck to you both,yall made a great couple."

"I’m praying this’ll turn around, we loved to see you two together and seemingly happy! ❤️," another fan commented.

One Instagram user chimed in, "Sending you and your family prayers during this transition period."

And one social media user shared, "I am so sorry Tia….sending prayers for you and Corey. I really hope you are okay and just know we are deeply saddened by this news. Just broke my heart ?."

Although the two had some obstacles to overcome through the years, Mowry-Hardict told Essence last year that "one of the things she loves most about their marriage is how Hardrict’s acts of faith and belief have elevated her own self-perception.”

And because of both their busy lives, their relationship did not consist of "normal gender roles." In March 2021, Mowry-Hardict said, "I had to take on those responsibilities that a father would do, I was out in the backyard teaching my son how to kick a ball. We don’t put labels on each other. … It’s a team effort, and at the end of the day it’s winning and however we get there, that’s what we do.”

Cory Hardict has yet to respond to the divorce.
