The Mystery Surrounding Kiely Rodni's Death Has Been Solved

Kiely Rodni’s cause of death has been revealed.

The 16-year-old female went missing in August after attending a party at the Prosser Family Campground near Lake Tahoe, California.

Nearly 300 people were in attendance ranging from teens to people in their late 20’s.

She was last seen around 12:30 AM on August 6th.  At the time of her disappearance, Kiely was driving a 2015 silver Honda CRV.

The missing teen’s body was discovered in a car at the bottom of a California lake.

On Sunday, August 21st, law enforcement officials discovered a body in a silver car submerged in Prosser Lake.

On Monday, August 22, a press conference with law enforcement officials was held, and they informed the public that the body found was “more than likely” Rodni.

Sadly, just one day later, the remains found in the silver vehicle have been confirmed to be those of Rodni.

She was discovered by a team of YouTube diving group, Adventures with Purpose.

Their bio on YouTube reads, “Adventures With Purpose (AWP) is an Underwater Search & Recovery Dive Team dedicated to helping families of missing loved ones for FREE, and with your support, 23 Missing Person Cold Cases Have Been Solved Since 2019.”

Her official cause of death was concluded an accidental drowning in her vehicle after it was driven into a lake.

The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office released her autopsy on October 13. It states, “descendent drown in a lake while inside her vehicle."

There were no indication of foul play in Rodni’s death.

According to the toxicology report, she had both THC and ethanol in her system; however, the ethanol could be a result of decomposition.

The official Twitter account for the Placer Sheriff’s department issued a tweet on August 23rd.

“Today, an autopsy was conducted on the deceased individual who was found in the Prosser Reservoir on Sunday, August 21st. The Nevada County Sheriff-Coroner has identified the decedent as 16-year-old Kiely Rodni, of Truckee,” the tweet read

The tweet continued, “The Placer County Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada County Sheriff's Office are in communication with Kiely’s family and offer our deepest condolences to them during this extremely difficult time. This is an ongoing investigation, and no other information is available at this time.”

“Kiely” began trending on Twitter after news of her body being identified broke.

News Nation’s Brian Entin tweeted, “So sorry for Kiely Rodni's family. Glad to see Adventures with Purpose getting attention for the work they have been doing for so long. They have sonar and technology law enforcement does not have.”

Another wrote, “For all the people judging #KielyRodni and her friends, look back to when you were that age. I know I was 100% guilty of making bad choices, and I’m fortunate enough to still be here. Let’s not judge, spread hate, and conspiracy theories. Give Kiely’s family some respect.”

“Im so upset that Kiely’s death has been overshadowed by SO much hatred & hurt… across the board. It is disgusting. I wish the internet had a reset button. DO BETTER EVERYONE. Recalibrate your moral compass’ … use this to learn to be better humans,” another defender of Rodni and her family wrote.”
