Unfortunately, it seems that after 13 years of marriage, Brazilian fashion model, Gisele Bündchen, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, Tom Brady, are going their separate ways as reports came in that they both hired their own divorce lawyers.
Now, a source close to the NFL star is speaking out -- saying the divorce is being "steered" by Bündchen and Brady is "very hurt" by all of it.
Tom Brady Is "Hurting" Amid Gisele Bündchen Divorce Rumors
Multiple sources recently confirmed that both Bündchen and Brady hired divorce lawyers amid the ongoing marital issue rumors. “I never actually thought this argument would be the end of them, but it looks like it is,” one source said. “I don’t think there will be any coming back now. They both have lawyers and are looking at what a split will entail, who gets what and what the finances will be.”
Now, a source close to Brady is speaking out, telling PEOPLE how the quarterback is handling all of this. "It's pretty obvious that he's hurting," the source said. "He feels very hurt by her."
"She is the one steering the divorce," one source said. "She is playing offense and he is playing defense. He wants to protect himself, protect his interests, but he's only starting to go the legal route in his defense from her. He doesn't want this to be ugly, he doesn't want to fight. If the divorce is happening — and it seems like it is — he wants it to go as smoothly as possible."
The divorce is very hard on Brady, especially since he is used to winning. "Think about it: Tom has had a very charmed life," the source admitted. "Things always seem to go his way. He works hard, he's a good guy, he hasn't had a lot of things go wrong in his life. This is awful for him. You can tell that this really, really hurts."
Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady's Marital Issues
The speculation that the two were in rocky waters began when Tom Brady unexpectedly took an 11-day break from training camp in August due to “personal reasons."
After Brady returned to training camp from his 11-day absence, he released a statement saying, “Everyone has different situations they’re dealing with, and we all have unique challenges to our lives. I’m 45 years old, man.”
Prior to Brady’s 11-day absence, Gisele Bündchen spoke out about her marriage and Brady’s decision to come out of retirement. “Obviously, I have my concerns—this is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,” she said. “I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too.”
Bündchen continued to explain, “I’ve done my part, which is [to] be there for [Tom]. I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams. Seeing my children succeed and become the beautiful little humans that they are, seeing him succeed, and being fulfilled in his career—it makes me happy. At this point in my life, I feel like I’ve done a good job on that.”
Since the NFL season began, Bündchen has not attended one of Brady's football games, and the two are reportedly living separately. Bündchen was spotted just recently, not wearing her wedding ring.
