Body Found In CA Lake Confirmed To Be Kiely Rodni

16-year-old Kiely Rodni is dead.

The missing teen’s body was discovered in a car at the bottom of a California lake.

On Sunday, August 21st, law enforcement officials discovered a body in a silver car submerged in Prosser Lake.

On Monday, August 22, a press conference with law enforcement officials was held, and they informed the public that the body found was “more than likely” Rodni.

At the time of the press conference, law enforcement officials did not name the teenager by name.

Sadly, just one day later, the remains found in the silver vehicle have been confirmed to be those of Rodni.

The official Twitter account for the Placer Sheriff’s department issued a tweet on August 23rd.

“Today, an autopsy was conducted on the deceased individual who was found in the Prosser Reservoir on Sunday, August 21st. The Nevada County Sheriff-Coroner has identified the decedent as 16-year-old Kiely Rodni, of Truckee,” the tweet read.

The tweet continued, “The Placer County Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada County Sheriff's Office are in communication with Kiely’s family and offer our deepest condolences to them during this extremely difficult time. This is an ongoing investigation, and no other information is available at this time.”

“Kiely” began trending on Twitter after news of her body being identified broke.

News Nation’s Brian Entin tweeted, “So sorry for Kiely Rodni's family. Glad to see Adventures with Purpose getting attention for the work they have been doing for so long. They have sonar and technology law enforcement does not have.”

Another wrote, “For all the people judging #KielyRodni and her friends, look back to when you were that age. I know I was 100% guilty of making bad choices, and I’m fortunate enough to still be here. Let’s not judge, spread hate, and conspiracy theories. Give Kiely’s family some respect.”

“Im so upset that Kiely’s death has been overshadowed by SO much hatred & hurt… across the board. It is disgusting. I wish the internet had a reset button. DO BETTER EVERYONE. Recalibrate your moral compass’ … use this to learn to be better humans,” another defender of Rodni and her family wrote.”

Rodni went missing in the early hours of August 6th. She attended a party on August 5th and Prosser Family Campground.

Nearly 300 people were in attendance ranging from teens to people in their late 20’s.

She was last seen around 12:30 AM on August 6th. At the time of her disappearance, Kiely was driving a 2015 silver Honda CRV.

Her friend Sami Smith revealed to Fox News Digital that her friend was very inebriated the last time she saw her and was most likely too drunk to drive.

Smith also spoke to The U.S. Sun about Rodni.

"The last recording sighting of her was 12.40am. I was the last person to speak to her at 12.36am, when she asked me if I still needed a ride home,” Smith told the outlet.

On Sunday, a silver vehicle matching the description of Rodni’s silver Honda CRV was found in Prosser Lake by a volunteer dive and rescue team called Adventures With Purpose.

It was found upside down about 14 feet beneath the lake’s surface, which has dropped about 3 feet since the teen first disappeared, according to Nevada County Sheriff’s Capt. Sam Brown.

Adventures With Purpose announced they will be on scene the rest of the day and will conduct a livestream tomorrow.

Rodni’s disappearance was first treated as an abduction.

The timing of Rodni’s death is pretty eerie given that the one-year-anniversary of Gabby Petito’s death is August 27th.

The teenager bore a striking resemblance to the 22-year-old Vanlife influencer who went missing last year.

We now know that Gabby was tragically killed by her fiancé, Brian Laundrie. He strangled her to death and claimed it was the “merciful” thing to do.

A candlelight worldwide celebration will take place on August 27th called “Light Up The Night.”
