The JLo-Shakira 2020 Super Bowl Halftime performance went down in history as being one of the coolest shows that shocked and elated fans, depending on their age. That said; JLo herself is not such a big fan, and she lets her disapproval show in the new Netflix documentary, "Halftime" which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.

JLo and Shakira together headlined the Super Bowl Halftime show in 2020, and it created quite the stir with the audience, for different reasons.

While the fans and men in the audience appreciated the show, the parents were not very happy with JLo being so scantily clad, and dancing on a pole.

As reported by CNN, the show garnered plenty of controversies as The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) received more than 1,300 complaints after the performance. Most people claimed the show was "inappropriate, especially for children." Other complaints were about the singer, claiming that "Lopez was dressed so scantily" and her dancing on a pole also did not win her accolades, at least not from the parents.

JLo herself has let it be known that she was not happy with the show, and sharing the stage with Shakira was the worst idea.

In the Netflix documentary, "Halftime", there's a scene where she's planning half of the performance with her music director Kim Burse. And "Jenny From The Block," says it loud and clear calling it "the worst idea in the world" to have two people share the headlining spot of the halftime show.

The Problem Lay In The Time, As Per JLo

The singer continued to say, "This is the worst idea in the world to have two people do the Super Bowl. It was the worst idea in the world" but it's not as if she had a problem with her fellow Latina co-performer.

The problem lay in the time.

Most of the other performers get enough solo time. Madonna in 2012 and Lady Gaga in 2017 headlined the Super Bowl and were each given over 13 minutes to perform, solo.

But with Shakira and JLo sharing the stage, they were given a total time of 12 minutes to perform all together and were told that it may increase by a minute or two.

But the 6-7 minutes allotted to JLo, as per the "Love Don't Cost A Thing" singer, are not quite enough to get the songs across, and this is what upset her in the first place.

In the documentary, she notes how this much time is too restrictive to be able to plan a good show, saying, "We have six f---ing minutes. We have to have our singing moments. It's not going to be a dance f---ing revue. We have to sing our message."

This is her, at the "Halftime" premiere:

Ultimately, the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show ran for about 14 minutes total, giving Lopez and Shakira about seven minutes each to perform a selection of their biggest hits. But JLo felt that with a dual performance they should have been given at least 20 minutes, splitting 10 minutes each between both her and Shakira. NFL is remaining mum for now, and there has been no response to her statements and the documentary.

Shakira herself has given no statement given that she is currently splitting with her partner of 11 years, Gerard Pique, over a cheating scandal.

Her thank-you speech acknowledged everything that was an obstacle to her road to success, saying: "Since you cannot create truth unless you've really lived it, I have a different kind of list of 'thank-yous' tonight. I want to thank all the people who gave me this life. I want to thank the people who gave me joy and the ones who broke my heart, the ones who were true, and the ones who lied to me. I want to thank true love, and I want to thank the way that I lied to myself because that's how I knew that I had to grow. I want to thank disappointment and failure for teaching me to be strong and my children for teaching me to love."

So clearly, a 7-minute performance time was just yet another roadblock JLo vaulted over, pole and all.
