The “Bad Romance” singer teased the new song on her Instagram page last week.

“When I wrote this song for Top Gun: Maverick, I didn’t even realize the multiple layers it spanned across the film’s heart, my own psyche, and the nature of the world we’ve been living in,” she explained.

“I’ve been working on it for years, perfecting it, trying to make it ours,” she continued. “I wanted to make music into a song where we share our deep need to both be understood and try to understand each other—a longing to be close when we feel so far away and an ability to celebrate life’s heroes.”

“I’m so grateful to Tom and Hans and Joe for this opportunity—and it’s been a beautiful experience working with them,” she added. “Me, BloodPop, Ben Rice and everyone else who worked on it with us are so excited to share it with you.”

“This song is a love letter to the world during and after a very hard time. I’ve wanted you to hear it for so long,” she concluded. “And I’m so excited to give it to you on May 3. ‘Hold My Hand.’”

She also teased a snippet of the lyrics, “But if you decide to / I’ll ride in this life with you / I won’t let go till the end.”

Lady Gaga Releases Music Video For ‘Hold My Hand’

On Friday, May 6, the “Born This Way” singer released the music video for the song.

“Fun fact: The first Top Gun movie came out in 1986, the same year Lady Gaga was born,” one fan noted. “Another fun fact: Gaga not only wrote the theme song for the sequel, but also composed the original score with Hans Zimmer.”

“Gaga doesn't need crazy production, just give her a piano and let her rock out,” another fan commented. “She's truly a rockstar!”

“And she has done it again! Absolutely nailed this song and the sentiment behind it,” another fan wrote. “What I get from just the opening lyrics is that Gaga is singing from the perspective of God asking Maverick why he waited so long to ask for help to move on from the pain. God assures Maverick that he will be right beside him on this new journey and get through the fear of failing his new pilots like he did Goose.”

“The ‘need to be understood and to try and understand each other’ (Gaga's words, not mine) is truly felt. Maverick living with the guilt of Goose dying and Rooster's lack of trust in him because of it,” they continued. “You have to hold on, have faith to believe in each other, and trust that everything will be ok. Gaga, you are amazing as always!!”

Many fans are hoping that this latest song will give Gaga her second Oscar. Although she failed to score a Best Actress nomination at the 94th annual Academy Awards earlier this year for her role in Ridley Scott’s “House of Gucci,” Gaga had previously won an Oscar for her hit song “Shallow” from “A Star Is Born,” which earned an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
