Actress Rita Moreno is going from West Side Story to the Fast & Furious franchise!

On Tuesday, star Vin Diesel announced that the Oscar-winning actress was going to be cast as his grandmother in the next movie in the franchise: “Fast X.”

Vin Diesel Says Rita Moreno ‘Makes Me Soul Smile’

On Tuesday, Vin Diesel shared a video of him sitting between Moreno and co-star Michelle Rodriguez as he introduced her to the franchise.

“It’s been my dream forever to work with Rita Moreno, and the fact that she’s here playing my grandmother makes my soul smile,” Diesel said. “I’m so blessed.”

“You know what, I think I was getting … I think my old age was waiting for you to invite me. Isn’t that nice?” Moreno asks. “And I’m here. And the answer is yes, I’ll do it.” She revealed that she was “tickled” and “so thrilled” to do it, saying that it was going to be so much fun to film.

As The Hollywood Reporter shared shortly after Diesel posted the video, the news of Moreno joining the franchise comes on the heels of the announcement of a new director. Louis Leterrier will be directing “Fast X” after Justin Lin abruptly left the project mere days into filming. Lin will stay attached to the film as a producer.

Brie Larson Joins Rita Moreno In 'Fast X'

Last month, Vin Diesel revealed that Marvel star Brie Larson had joined the franchise by posting a selfie of the two laughing side by side together.

“Yeah yeah yeah… you see this angel over my shoulder cracking me up, you say to your self ‘ that’s captain Marvel’. Clearly there is love and laughter in this image,” he began.

“What you don’t see however, is the character you will be introduced to in Fast10,” he continued. “You have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology. Beyond her beauty, her intellect… her Oscar, haha is this profound soul who will add something you might not have expected but yearned for.”

“Welcome to the FAMILY Brie,” he concluded. Co-star Ludacris welcomed her to the family with two star emojis in the comments.

Larson and Moreno won't be the only famous faces in the franchise. Aquaman star Jason Momoa has also been cast in the upcoming movie.

Jason Momoa Undergoes MRI While Filming 'Fast X'

Over the weekend, the "Game of Thrones" alum posted a photo showing him about to undergo an MRI scan with a brace around his head.

"you got to break some eggs to make an omelette," he captioned the snap. "aloha j. thankful for my ohana and friends."

The Hawaii native is currently in Rome filming scenes for "Fast X," leaving many fans concerned that he had gotten hurt on set. He's been seen performing a motorcycle chase throughout the streets of Rome for the new movie.

Unfortunately, Momoa did not disclose why he was getting an MRI, so fans were left to speculate as to whether or not he sustained an injury while filming. One fan wrote, "Hopefully, this is a scene from a new movie... if not, prayers up!!! Much love, aloha! 💜🙏🏾🤗🙏🏾💜."

Hopefully, Momoa gets a clean bill of health and is able to return to work soon. In addition to the "Aquaman" sequel, fans are looking forward to seeing him in the live-action "Minecraft" movie.
