Following the news that Kim would be hosting the October 9th episode of the late-night sketch show, Messing took to Twitter to share her thoughts, and they were not particularly positive.

The “Will & Grace” star wrote, “Why Kim Kardashian? I mean, I know she is a cultural icon, but SNL has hosts, generally, who are performers who are there to promote a film, TV show, or album launch. Am I missing something?”

Messing’s tweet received over 6,000 likes with many people agreeing with her take. One fan wrote, “Kim is famous for being infamous. Talk about a nothing burger who parlayed a sex tape into a social influencer lifestyle. SNL disappoints yet again.”

As The Blast covered back then, Kim took a jab at her mother’s boyfriend Corey Gamble, her sister Kourtney Kardashian’s relationship with Travis Barker, and her step-mother Caitlyn Jenner’s political ambition.

She shared a controversial O.J Simpson joke while discussing her late father Robert Kardashian, who represented the disgraced athlete. Kim also touched on her infamous sex tape with Ray J and her ongoing divorce from her estranged husband, Kanye West.

”I’ve been very blessed in this life, and I’m grateful for everything. All the ups, all the downs. I married the best rapper of all time. Not only that, he’s also the richest Black man in America. A talented legit genius who gave me four incredible kids. So when I divorced him, you have to know it came down to just one thing… his personality,” she said about the rapper.

Undoubtedly, Kim’s “SNL” hosting debut was a success and marked a phenomenal shift in her career and her love life — yes, Pete Davidson!

Following the aftermath of Kim’s glorious debut, Messing took her words back and apologized for her hasty conclusion. During an appearance on “The Tamron Hall Show,” the actress explained that her tweet was intended to bully Kim as it was just a genuine question.

She admitted that she hadn’t been up to date on things pop culture and was trying to understand why Kim fit the criteria. Messing concluded, praising Kim’s talent, saying, “I watched her and I thought she was amazing, and I was rooting for her.”

In the premiere episode while documenting her preparation for “SNL,” Kim called out Messing in a confessional saying, “A girl from Will & Grace came out and said she has no idea why I’d be chosen as a host, but it’s like, why do you care? I don’t comment to tear people down, especially another female. If that’s what you think, then cool, tune in.”

Fans were thrilled about Kim referring to Messing as “a girl from Will & Grace” and found it mad shady!
