Actor Ryan Reynolds is beloved by a lot of fans… especially on Netflix!
The star of “Deadpool” is just coming off of the success of his latest collaboration with director Shawn Levy, titled, “The Adam Project.”
Within the third week of the film’s release, it’s already soared to the streaming giant’s top 10 most popular English language films produced by Netflix. It currently sits in seventh place but has the potential to become even higher.

On Tuesday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Reynolds officially has three movies in the Netflix top ten list. The comedy crime caper “Red Notice” featuring “Black Adam” Dwayne Johnson and “Wonder Woman” Gal Gadot currently sits in the number one spot. His other film “6 Underground” is currently in ninth place.
The “Buried” actor had previously tied with actress Sandra Bullock for most Netflix titles on the top 10 list for her movies “Bird Box” and “The Unforgivable.”
“The Adam Project” also gave director Shawn Levy an interesting win: he is now the only director and producer with a show on the most popular English TV list (“Stranger Things”) and a film on the most popular English language film list.
Levy told THR, “I’m not going to be shy. To see both Adam Project and Free Guy connect in such a globally commercial way is really meaningful to Ryan and I. I don’t make niche programming. I make mainstream programming. And to have both Adam Project and Stranger Things in the upper echelon of the most-watching programming on Netflix is a point of pride.”
“The way that it is being rewatched and being kept alive on social media with such sustained energy is a joyous surprise,” Levy added.
Fans of Levy and Reynolds are in for a treat. Not only has a “Free Guy” sequel been approved by 20th Century and Disney, but Disney’s Marvel Studios has also tapped Levy to direct “Deadpool 3.”
Shawn Levy & Ryan Reynolds Reunite For ‘Deadpool 3’
Fans are excited to see Shawn Levy give his take on the “Deadpool” film series. The first film, released in 2016, was directed by Tim Miller. The 2018 sequel was headed by David Leitch and brought on Josh Brolin as Cable and Zazie Beetz as Domino. No release date for “Deadpool 3” has yet been announced.
Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, known for writing for the Fox animated series “Bob’s Burgers,” are writing the script for this movie. Frequent collaborators of Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, wrote the scripts for the first two films.
THR reported that the “Deadpool” films are the top-grossing “X-Men” films of all time, with the original film bringing in $783.1 million. The sequel did slightly better, earning $785.8 million worldwide.
This will be the first “Deadpool” film following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which released the first two films. The first two “Deadpool” films are still not available on Disney+, although Disney did announce plans to move its Marvel Netflix titles, like “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” and “The Defenders,” to their streaming service.
Shawn Levy Called Ryan Reynolds 'A Fountain Of Creativity'
In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Levy asked what it was like to work with Reynolds.
“Ryan is a fountain of creativity and a true marketing savant. You haven’t seen the last of his comedic promos for Adam Project. There are a few others coming down the pipeline that are incredibly funny and clever,” he said. “He just has that superpower. So when he gets ideas, he’ll pitch them to me and to the studio.”
“There have been ones where I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s funny, but they’ll never let you do it,’ i.e., Korg and Deadpool watching the Free Guy trailer. But then he’ll make a few calls and he’ll get it done,” he continued. “The thing that people don’t realize about Ryan is that he’s not one of these movie stars who hides behind a wall of agents and representatives. He picks up the call, and he makes the call. He rolls up his sleeves and does the work to get s--- done. And that’s very much how I do my job, which is another reason why we hit it off so instantly.”
