Shawn Mendes is dropping whatever walls he might have up and getting candid with his fans about life post-breakup.

The Canadian singer and Camila Cabello were the ultimate couple before their shocking split last November. At the time, the pair broke the sad news via a statement, confirming things were ending after two years.

"Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever ❤️ . We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends," they wrote in a joint statement.

A few months after their break up, Mendes is opening up about what it feels like to no longer have a girlfriend.

Over the weekend, the "Stitches" singer made a surprise drop on Twitter when he shared an emotional and vulnerable video while speaking of his new music.

In the short 38-second clip, Mendes seemed to be talking about a particular unknown song when he said, "a lot of the things that also like is resonating in the lyrics for me is like… oh f**k… you know..you don't realize when you're breaking up with someone… you don't realize all the s**t that comes after it."

While solemnly playing the piano, Mendes admitted that he has had to truly live life alone since breaking up with Cabello.

He continued, "Who do I call when I am, like, in a panic attack, who do I call when I am, like, f**king on the edge, you know? And I think that's the reality that kinda hit me, like, I am on my own now…

Mendes concluded, confessing that he "hates" the reality of being on his own now.

While this is the first time the 23-year-old has spoken in-depth about his split from the "Havana" singer, this isn't the first time he has addressed their split through his music.

Mendes Wondered If They Were Going To Make It

As The Blast reported, shortly after their breakup in November, Mendes released a song titled "It'll Be Okay," seemingly speaking to their situation.

The somber and emotional number featured the lyrics, "Are we gonna make it? Is this gonna hurt? Oh, we can try to sedate it, but that never works, yeah."

Mendes hasn't been the only party to address the split through the power of music. Earlier this month, Cabello released a new song titled "Bam Bam," featuring Ed Sheeran from her upcoming alum, "Familia."

In the hit tune, the Cuban singer says, "You said you hated the ocean/But you're surfin' now/I said I'd love you for life/But I just sold our house."

Cabello's lyrics probably speak to Mendes' Instagram post days after their split where he shared photos of himself surfing despite telling fans that swimming in the ocean was "his weirdest fear."

In December, a month after the breakup, Cabello also sold her three-bedroom mansion in Los Angeles, where she and Mendes often stayed.

A Priority Shift Contributed To The Breakdown Of Their Romance

Cabello has also spoken at length about the things that played a role in their shocking breakup. Earlier this month, while promoting her new single, the 25-year-old spoke to Zane Lowe on Apple Music One.

Cabello shared that there was a major shift in the things that mattered to her during the relationship.

"My priorities have fluctuated and my focus has changed throughout my life," the singer shared. "Those years that we were dating, I don't even feel like, even while I was writing this album, and even still now, I guess, my focus is really on, how can I be a well-rounded person?"

She explained that she and Mendes began dating at a young age, but their focus and priorities shifted as they grew older.

In the past, Cabello had also spoken about how her anxiety contributed to their split, especially amid the pandemic when her filming for "Cinderella" came to a halt.

"I felt so anxious, cripplingly anxious," Cabello said. "I just felt really unstable, and I just felt a mess because suddenly, this thing that was distracting me, my work and filming, was not there."

As a result, she was left with her "anxiety and mind," which she confessed "was getting in the way of my relationship." It was getting in the way of my friendships, my time at home," she said.
