Peter Dinklage Harshly Criticizes Dwarves Representation In Upcoming 'Snow White'

Disney appears to have taken one step forward and seven steps back with its upcoming live-action remake, which rubbed Peter Dinklage off the wrong way.

The Primetime Emmy Award winner sees no reason for a 'seven dwarves' take on the unreleased production of the "Snow White" movie.

While praising other details of the film, Dinklage posits that the famous movie company failed to consider the harsh reality of its upcoming narrative.

Dinklage has done an excellent job of paving the way for better representation of dwarves through his iconic and award-winning roles, including Lord Tyrion in "Game of Thrones."

So it came as a shock and disappointment when he heard about Disney's live-action remake of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves."

This week, Dinklage appeared on the "WTF" podcast to share his unfiltered thoughts about the upcoming movie, which stars Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen.

The handsome "Cyrano" star wants producers to take a step back and see how the story of the seven dwarves comes across as demeaning.

Dinklage noted that he means no offense, but there is a lot of hypocrisy behind casting a Latina actress as Snow White but still adding the unflattering dwarves narrative. He expressed:

"It makes no sense to me. You’re progressive in one way, but then you’re still making that f--- backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together. What the f--- are you doing, man?"

Dinklage remained respectful to Zegler and everyone involved in the production yet appeared severely hurt by the film's lack of hindsight when he said:

"Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I’m not loud enough…  All love and respect to the actress and all the people who thought they were doing the right thing."

Disney is yet to officially announce any plans for dwarves to feature in the remake, and hopefully, the words of the multi-award-winning representative will guide their future choices.

As productions for the movie begin this year, Dinklage admitted that he would be excited if Disney retold the fairytale with  “a f---ed up, cool or progressive spin on it."

Dinklage does not spend all day thinking about height differences and remains constantly booked and busy with unforgettable acting roles—the latest of which is "Cyrano."

The Blast disclosed that the film released on December 31 has already received multiple award nominations. The movie stars Dinklage as Cyrano de Bergerac and Haley Bennett as his love interest, Roxanne.

Cyrano loves Roxanne, but her heart yearns for Christian de Neuvillette [Kelvin Harrison Jr.]. So he chooses to use his poetry skills to help Christian woo Roxanne.

Though Cyrano believes that his physical appearance will prevent Roxanne from ever loving him back, Dinklage had a different take on the character. 

The 52-year-old said Cyrano's height is not what prevents him from expressing his love but the universal feeling we have of "being unworthy of love and insecure about who we are."

Dinklage noted that many scripts he has read have height as the only characteristic of the character, and that is not who he is. He clarified:

“It’s part of who I am, but I don’t go around thinking about it all day long. And if it doesn’t define me, why should it define a character? That’s just bad writing."

Dinklage humorously revealed Cyrano was not originally written for him, but he fell in love with the character during a script read-through and "weaseled" his way in like a bulldog.

Dinklage may be baffled by the need to portray seven dwarves in Disney's "Snow White" remake, but another star is over-the-moon about her role. 

The Blast shared that Gal Gadot cannot wait to switch to the dark side as the villainous evil queen in the upcoming live-action movie. 

Gadot detailed her excitement at the premiere of "Red Notice," a Netflix film where she dropped her superhero cape as Wonder Woman to play a notorious thief.

The DC actress gushed, “I’m excited to create an iconic villain character in my voice,” hinting at a unique twist.

Gadot clicked her fingers in classic Disney villain fashion, saying the famous Evil Queen's line, “Mirror, mirror on the wall. Can’t wait!”
