Leo DiCaprio OBJECTED to Meryl Streep's Nude Scene, Wanted To Protect 'Royalty'

Leonardo DiCaprio has once again proved that he is a serious actor.
The Oscar-winner used his “Hollywood powers” to make sure another Oscar-winner did not strip down to her birthday suit.
“Don’t Look Up” is the latest film Leo stars in alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, and many more.
It was released in theaters on December 10, and will be streaming on Netflix December 24.
The film is directed by Adam McKay who is known for films such as “The Big Short,” “Vice,” “Anchorman,” and “Step Brothers.”
In an interview with The Guardian on Sunday, December 12, McKay revealed that Leo was opposed to Streep’s nude scene.
McKay called Streep ‘fearless,’ but that didn’t matter to Leo.
Meryl Streep was scripted to go NUDE in new movie
He highly ‘opposed’ the veteran actress from stripping down because he considers her ‘royalty.’
“But you know who had a problem with it? Leo [DiCaprio]. Leo just views Meryl as film royalty … although maybe royalty is not a compliment … but as such a special figure in the history of film,” McKay told the outlet.
He continued, “He didn’t like seeing her with the lower back tattoo, walking for a second naked. He said something to me like: ‘Do you really need to show that?’ And I was like: ‘It’s President Orlean; it’s not Meryl Streep.’ But she didn’t even blink. She didn’t even bring it up.”
Leo didn't want Meryl doing a nude scene
Lucky for Leo, there is a body double used for this particular scene he was not fond of.
Streep plays the role of President Janie Orlean and Leo plays the role of an astronomer who discovers a giant comet headed for Earth, but struggles to get anyone to listen.
The veteran actors have known each other for over 20 years, and starred alongside one another in the 1996 drama, “Marvin’s Room.”
Streep played Leo’s mother in the movie.
Leo wanted to protect 'film royalty'
While Leo was playing protector of Streep, JLaw was having a total meltdown over Grande’s cameo.
The Academy Award winner revealed she had a total fangirl, freak out moment with the singer.
“She can’t make bad music. I’ve since reflected on my behavior with Ariana Grande. I went full radio contest winner,” she hilariously recalled. “I was so excited and nervous that at one point, I just kind of walked into her hotel room and sat down. I’ve just been thinking about it a lot lately. There were all of these trunks for her hair and makeup, and I was like, ‘Do you live here?'”
Lawrence is infamous for having fangirl moments.
