Matthew Perry is ready to give his fans a first-hand glimpse into his life and career.

As reported by Deadline, the "Friends" actor signed a mega seven-figure deal with Flatiron Books, a division of Macmillan, giving them the rights to publish his upcoming autobiography, which is set to be released in Fall 2022.

The untitled memoir is set to give fans an unfiltered behind-the-scenes look at his time on the legendary sitcom and his personal battles with addiction. Publisher Megan Lynch of Flatiron Books told the publication:

We need humor, we need catharsis, and we need to agree on something–and Matthew’s extraordinary story, told in his inimitable voice, is that thing.

Lynch described the autobiography as a book with the potential to bring people together and noted that it would have themes of self-awareness and, of course, humor.

The "Friends" Star Wants To Tell His Story

The news of the autobiography was confirmed by Perry himself in a statement to People Magazine. The actor shared that the autobiography was a way of telling his side of the story after years of the media reporting on him. In his words:

There has been so much written about me by others in the past. I thought it was time people heard it directly from the horse's mouth. In this case, the horse's mouth being me.

Perry rose to fame for his role as Chandler Bing on "Friends," starring in all ten seasons alongside co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt Le Blanc, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer.

Following the success of the NBC sitcom, Perry starred in several more television projects including, "Mr Sunshine," "The Odd Couple," "The Good Wife," and "The Good Fight," amongst others.

Matthew Perry At "Friends: The Reunion"

Earlier this year, Perry reunited with his co-stars for the highly anticipated HBO Max "Friends: The Reunion," but his appearance wasn't met with positive remarks from viewers.

As The Blast reported, there was an outpouring of concern by fans who commented that the actor looked haggard and had slurred speech, citing his long battle with drug addiction as the reason.

Perry was bashed by the internet, but it turned out that his unusual appearance was due to an emergency tooth appearance he had on the day of the shooting. The show's director Kevin Bright came to the star's defense, saying that he was better and stronger than the last time.

Perry's appearance at the reunion came days before he and his ex-fiancée Molly Hurwitz called off their engagement suddenly. The duo got engaged in November 2020 after dating for about two years.
