Apparently, Aniston had been away from the social media scene, so much that when the stories surfaced online, she had no inkling about it.
The rumors went on for a while with no immediate response from both parties. However, the actress has come out to squash the rumors. In the process, she revealed how she learned about the speculations, her friends’ reactions, and her friendship with Schwimmer.
Keep reading below for more details.
How Jennifer Aniston Learned About The Rumours
During an interview with Marie Claire Australia “The Morning Show” star dealt with the dating rumors saying they were ‘really funny’ because she and her co-star, Schwimmer have never dated.
“Honestly. I was getting a couple of texts from people saying, “I thought you were on a break, LOL,” she told Marie Claire Australia. “And I kept saying, “What are you talking about?’”
‘And then I went online to see what was happening and I was like, ‘That is the funniest rumor that I never heard that got shot down in the quickest amount of time,’” she said.
Anniston would later reveal in another interview that she saw Schwimmer more like her brother rather than the perceived ideology online that they were romantically linked.
“That was bizarre. I could not believe that. Like, really? That’s my brother,” Aniston said in the interview. She continued saying; “But I understand it, though. It just shows you how hopeful people are for fantasies, for dreams to come true.”
Background On The Rumors
During the HBO reunion special the pair revealed that they had a crush on each other while shooting the series. Although this came as a shock to everyone, it helped to push the narrative that the pair were now involved with each other.
“The first season, we– I had a major crush on Jen,” Schwimmer said to which Aniston quipped, “It was reciprocated.”
“At some point, we were both crushing hard on each other,” Schwimmer added, “But it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship. So, we never crossed that boundary. We respected that.”
Aniston said that they channeled those emotions into building better chemistry for their on-screen characters, Rachel Green and Ross Gellar, which was absolutely beautiful to watch.
But they both admitted to sharing intimate moments while filming. “We would spoon and fall asleep on the couch,” the duo agreed.
When The Rumors Hit Hard!
In a thread on Twitter, a source alleged that the reunion special had stirred up buried emotions and the co-stars had begun acting on their past feelings for each other. Although this claim was unfounded at the time, it did well to sway fans online.

“They began texting immediately after filming and, just last month, David flew from his home in New York to see Jen in LA,” the source said. “They’ve been spending time at Jen’s home, where she’s cooked dinners in the evenings, and have enjoyed quality time together, chatting and laughing,” the insider continued.
“They were also spotted drinking wine, deep in conversation, as they walked around one of Jen’s favorite vineyards in Santa Barbara, where it was clear there was lots of chemistry between them.”
Fans were ecstatic when they read the thread that implied the duo were dating. One user tweeted, “IF JENNIFER ANISTON AND DAVID SCHWIMMER ARE DATING TOGETHER I’M GOING TO SCREAM RIGHT NOW CUZ OMG GUYS MY TL IS IN PANIC.”
Another Twitter user, Mike Hogan wrote, “David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston are rumored to be dating! STOP! This is an entertaining story I can get behind! Ross and Rachel in real life?! After all these years!”
‘The Morning Show’ Season 2
Now, Anniston alongside her co-stars have kicked off the second season of their publicly praised drama, “The Morning Show.” This season will focus on how the cast plans to balance their personal and professional lives all at the same time.
It will also deal with all the issues that came with COVID-19 as it is set at the peak of the pandemic.
“When we locked down was when we realized that we had to go back to the drawing board and try to figure out how do we incorporate this into the show,” Aniston, who is also the executive producer on the series reflected on the choice to include the pandemic storyline.
“We also figure out how to delicately weave it through because we didn’t know where we would be when this show aired. If we’d be out of COVID and would people be fatigued by hearing about COVID?”
“The Morning Show” season 2 returned to the big screens on Friday, September 17, via Apple TV+.
