The 71-year-old TV and movie star died following a short and “only recently discovered” battle with cancer.
Alley’s family shared the heartbreaking news on social media.
In a lengthy message shared to her Twitter, her family wrote, “We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer.”
Her children revealed the cancer was “recently discovered.”
Alley was surrounded by her closest family.
She “fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead.”
The actress had an incredible team of doctors and nurses at the Moffitt Cancer Center.
Her on-screen love interest in several films and off-screen friend, John Travolta, paid tribute as well as Carmen Electra.
