Kirstie Alley Creates Another Controversial 'The Masked Singer' Elimination

Actress Kirstie Alley was finally unmasked as the Baby Mammoth on “The Masked Singer.”

Alley gained success with her role as Rebecca Howe in the sitcom “Cheers,” which earned her both an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for her role. She earned additional nominations for her role in “Veronica’s Closet” and appeared in many hits throughout the 80s and 90s, such as “Summer School” and “It Takes Two.”

Judge Robin Thicke guessed that it was actress Kirsten Dunst. Ken Jeong guessed actress Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Scherzinger guessed Rachel Ray. Only Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg correctly guessed that it was actually Kirstie Alley.

Last week, Baby Mammoth sang “Walkin’ After Midnight” by Patsy Cline. On Wednesday night, she began by singing, “The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s In His Kiss) by Cher and followed it up by singing “Me Too” by Meghan Trainor during her duel with the Space Bunny, who will perform again on next week’s episode.

Her “mega clue” was a birdcage. She teased, “Well, I think that all animals should be wild things. So I set it free and helped it escape.” Coincidentally, Variety noted that she once gifted her crew members live birds in birdcages during a “Veronica’s Closet” wrap party.

During last week’s episode, Baby Mammoth joked that “they told me that I could do anything I wanted out here except poop on the stage. So I’ll take it as a very big win because although you can poop in the circus, you’re not allowed on this show. I am feeling very good because although I have gotten lots of silver, I want to go for the gold.”

After her unmasking, Alley told host Nick Cannon, “I’ve done a lot of things in my career, but I never wanted to be in the circus.”

When asked why she wanted to do the show, Kirstie Alley explained, “I have grandchildren, and they’re really young, so they’re going to think this is good.”

“Yeah,” Nicole echoed. Robin added, “Yes. They’re going to think it’s awesome.” Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg said, “It’s so good. And you were so good.”

Alley has previously come under fire for her controversial views, her participation in Scientology, and her previous lawsuits stemming from weight loss products.

Last week, “The Masked Singer” frustrated a lot of fans when Rudy Giuliani was finally unmasked. Deadline broke the story that he was going to be a contestant before the season had even started, reporting that judge Ken Jeong had stormed off-stage. Initial reports said that Robin Thicke had also stormed off stage before a source clarified that he had merely rushed off to make sure his friend was okay.

One fan tweeted, "Sarah Palin, Caitlyn Jenner, Rudy Giuliani, Kirstie Alley — all on the Masked Singer. It’s starting to become a right wing factory. Republicans accuse others of indoctrinating children, yet here they are dancing and singing in costumes ?"

Another fan wrote, "Hey @MaskedSingerFOX casting both Kirstie Alley and Rudy Giuliani in the same season is awful. She’s a cult member loon and he’s a traitor. Really scrapping the bottom of the barrel this season."

A third fan commented, "Kirstie Alley was revealed as Baby Mammoth, the week right after Rudy Giuliani was revealed. The Masked Singer has officially hit bottom."

Many have their fingers crossed that the next contestant to be unmasked will be a little bit less controversial!
