'The Witcher’ Gets Renewed for Its Second Season Before Debut of the Show

The fantasy series of novels and short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski, 'The Witcher', was announced to becomes a Netflix series in May 2017. Its debut date is scheduled for December 20th of 2019 with eight episodes. With almost a month before it hits Netflix, they announced they are renewing the series for a second season.

The show is to start production in 2020 and to debut in 2021. The trailer for the first season of the show has received numerous praises and hype for the Tv adaptation of the stories. Fans are surprised and excited at the early announcement of the shows renewal.

The second season of the show will bring back Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the series showrunner. Tomek Baginski, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniel, Mike Ostrowski, Steve Gaub and Jarosław Sawko are confirmed to reprise their role as executive producers. Henry Cavill will continue his role as the shows protagonist, Geralt.

The novels are highly popular for its storyline following a ‘witcher’ by the name of Geralt of Rivia. The novels have also been adapted into video games, card games and the theme of many cosplayers. Fans were weary and wondered if Cavill could physically embody the white-haired and fair-skinned hunter.

When the trailer debuted, viewers were impressed with the look of Cavill and the rest of the show and its characters. Geralt is a monster hunter who prefers to roam alone. He was genetically mutated when he was a boy and developed superhuman strengths and mental capabilities.

The extensive experiments caused him to lose pigmentation in his skin and hair. The series follows the tale of Geralt as he becomes entangled with a young princess and a powerful sorceress.

Alongside Cavill in the first season is Freya Allan as Princess Ciri , Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe ,Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as King Eist Tuirseach, Adam Levy as Mousesack , MyAnna Buring as Tissaia de Vries and Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla Vigo.

Anyone interested in fantasy or are fans of the video game version or the novels are in for a treat with the new series. The dark aura and mythical beasts, along with the fantasy world of elves, witches and Henry Cavill might just get you hooked. With the confirmation of the second season, the hype will continue. Instead of watching holiday rom-com films this holiday season, ‘The Witcher’ is the perfect show to watch days before Christmas.
