A visit to Madame Tussauds offers an afternoon of photo-ops with the likenesses of Hollywood’s elite.
However, Madame Tussauds does not always achieve their desired look and some celebrity wax figures end up looking nothing like the real thing.
Nicki Minaj is just the latest celebrity to enter into the world of botched celebrity wax figures. Her new wax figure’s light skin and morphed features seem to depict Minaj as a different race and barely bare resemblance to the rapper.
Debuted in Germany, her likeness in the Berlin Madame Tussauds understandably has fans firmly saying their “anaconda don’t want none.”
Twitter fans did not hold back when it came to describing the poor likeness of Minaj.
One tweet compared the wax figure to “a Mexican stripper from Houston” while others posted pictures of Kourtney Kardashian saying the figure resembled the reality TV star much more than the rapper with its lighter skin and features and “reduced booty” size.
However, Minaj is far from alone when it comes to wax figure drama. Madame Tussauds has gotten it wrong quite a few times over the years. The following celebrity wax figures are equally cringe-worthy.
Madame Tussauds made a titanic mistake when it came to Leonardo DiCaprio’s wax figure.
In fact, there is so much off with this figure, that it would be easier to say what they actually got right.
Differing from his traditional good looks, DiCaprio’s likeness has more separation between the eyes, uneven lips, unkempt hair and eye bags that make him look uncharacteristically tired.
Worst of all, there is just an overall creepiness about the figure’s menacing stare. No one can blame museum-goers for skipping photos with this display.
It’s been a rocky past year for Madame Tussauds. Nicki Minaj was definitely not the first singer hit with a bad likeness lately. In 2019, Ariana Grande also faced embarrassment over her figure.
Last May, the London location released a wax figure that looked nothing like the “Thank U, Next” singer.
Ariana herself even shaded her likeness, posting a photo of the wax figure to her Instagram in May with the caption “I just wanna talk.”
Fans were quick to poke fun at Grande on Twitter, saying her likeness looked like Ariana during her Victorious days before she was “pretending to be black,” while others photoshopped the figure to look more like her.
This skinny likeness of Brad Pitt looks like the skeevy sort of guy you would find selling drugs in a Los Angeles club rather than walking red carpets as a Hollywood heartthrob.
Madame Tussauds really did a number on Brad Pitt’s wax figure, taking away many of the manly traditional qualities the actor naturally possesses.
While the wax figures over at Madame Tussauds could use a little more research behind their construction before their debut dates, at least Nicki can laugh about her faulty wax figure with her famous friends.
