Lorde Apologizes to Whitney Houston Fans for Tone-Deaf Instagram Post

By TheBlast Staff

Lorde attempted to express her love for bathtime but that went really, really poorly and now she's apologizing to Whitney Houston fans (AKA everyone).

The Kiwi superstar put up a photo on Instagram of a lovely, water-filled bathtub before a little self-care session and captioned it with a lyric from "I Will Always Love You." Fans immediately attacked Lorde for what they saw as a not-so-thinly-veiled reference to how the Grammy-winning icon died.

You'll recall that Houston died unexpectedly after drowning in a bathtub and her daughter, Bobbi Kristina, eerily died in the same manner just a few years later.

Lorde apparently didn't make the connection and was quick to offer a mea culpa. She removed the post, professed her love for Whitney and apologized in an Instagram story writing, "I hadn't even put this together I was just excited to take a bath."

She went even further and posted an apology message on Twitter as well.

Reminder: don't mess with Whitney Houston. Every single person on Earth loves her (seriously, even Kim Jong-un.)
